Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

I have a question about orientation.
Online there are a couple dates for orientation, and I cant make it to the july 13th date.
Would i be allowed to go to the Transfer orientation in June that is recommended for Veterans?
I assume since it is only “recommended” for veterans that i would still be allowed to go as a non-veteran

@Mustang012 I might not be looking at the right place. Can you post the link to the portal you’re talking about
?

@zettasyntax @TonyStark93 Have you all heard anything yet?

Just called admissions, he said that no decision has been made for me, but my file is complete and that I should hear back by mid-July. Kind of a bummer since I sent my grades in 2 and a half weeks ago.

@Shortstop3 I think that is a general response you should hear much sooner. I called 2 times yesterday regarding different things, but i did ask them about when i should be hearing back. The first lady said essential the same thing your person said, the second guy said I should be hearing very soon( he emphasized the very).I honestly thing they are not suppose to disclose any info, regarding when you will hear, but some admissions people tend to be more revealing then others.

@HeartlandCali is there a specific document they will ask for? Yesterday my financial aid application claimed I needed a documentation to prove “Ability to Benefit Verification Requirement”. I called financial aid , and they said I need to submit my High school transcript, which i had already done, so she transferred me to admissions. Admissions put me on hold for about 20 min, and they told me it was all fixed and it was just a communication problem between admissions and financial aid. He told me to call again if I had any issues. Did you get anything similar to this? Also my financial aid now states this in the bottom “Financial Aid Awards are usually available 3 - 5 business days after all required documents have been received.” Do you know if this is a generic message?

I know its not good to overthink these things, but why would they spend time working on financial aid applications of applicant who are gonna be rejected?? It makes no sense to me, it would triple the workload.

@jucery13 hopefully that’s the case! Regardless, at least I won’t be hovering around the mailbox and portal at midnight anymore haha.

Is it true some people who received SGR received an admissions result before they even sent in their SGR? I am currently still in my finals week at my University and cannot submit my SGR. Pretty anxious about the results.

Besides Oasis, is the only other online website or “portal” you.usc.edu?

I think so. However, I don’t know how to use Oasis at all. @jrmiamih I think Oasis is mainly for students enrolled at USC or accepted students.

@RAHforHEE I’ve heard nothing yet. I decided to email my counselor to see if he knows what’s up. I live about 10 minutes away from Downtown LA, so I figured if they had sent out my decision yesterday, I would have gotten it in the mail today. If I don’t hear from him by Thursday, I guess I’ll give him a call. It’s pretty weird.

@zettasyntax If you’re that close to USC, take a visit in person and ask what’s up. Good luck!

I submitted my commitment deposit and got the message:
Thank you for notifying us of your plans; we will withdraw your application. We wish you the best in your future endeavors!
Did anyone else receive this?

Does USC use priority mail for acceptances and first class mail for rejections still?

Also, how fast did everyone receive their admission decision?

Accepted to Thornton School of Music, Music Industry Major.
I’m going to pass out.

@squishyboba Congrats!!! Did your letter have a date?

@squishyboba Grats! Btw did you get an sgr?

Is the restrictions date on Oasis supposed to change if spring grades were requested via email? My spring grades aren’t finalized until next week.

@jucery13 - what Financial Aid asked me for was my parents W2s. I think several people got asked for this in the past week, but I think others got different requests. Everyone who posted that they were asked to turn in more financial aid documents in the past week seems to have gotten accepted after the request. And, yes, now that I’ve turned this in, my Financial Aid status says the same things yours does, that packages would be available 3-5 business days after all documents were sent. Hope this helps!
