Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@WhitneyJoy Congrats! Btw what’re your stats? and SGR?

@collegebeans Thank you! I’m a Sophomore transfer and I sent in my SGR last week.

High School GPA: 3.3 Weighted
SAT: 1490 (I know, pretty low)
I was uncertain of apply to USC because of how much it is, but my parents forced me to apply anyway the day the application was due. Because of this, my essays weren’t at all the best they could have been. Maybe a 6/10 if rating my essays. I also wasn’t intending to send in my transcripts because I didn’t really have a desire to go. But something changed and I submitted my transcripts in April; my counselor mentioned it might be more difficult to be considered for admissions because of how late I was in turning my transcripts in. Another reason I’m so surprised I was accepted. Nonetheless, I’m super grateful for this chance.
Also, overall surprised at the acceptance because of how low my high school stats are.
I have 39 credits completed including one AP score
I took 16 units my first semester and got a 4.0
My second semester I took 20 units and got a 3.85, 5 As and 1 B.
Altogether, 3.92.
I interned at a magazine for 8 months and I wrote for an online publication called HelloGiggles. While interning, I had a seasonal job at Old Navy. These are pretty much my main ECs. I’m also a published author of a children’s book and was committed to dance until I graduated from my dance studio last year.

ALSO: Only applied to NYU and was rejected.

@WhitneyJoy Congratulations! If you don’t mind, what was the date on the letter? Are you from LA?

@justamuggle May 30th and yes, I’m from L.A.!

@WhitneyJoy Congratulations! Were you on the Trojan Transfer Plan?

@provence97 Thank you! And I’m not sure what that is, but maybe? What is that? I was initially apart of the honors program for UCLA at my CC, so probably not.

Does anyone know if scholarships are still available to apply for through USC?

Trojan Transfer Plan is for students who applied previously and had good enough grades and SAT scores but there just wasn’t enough space to admit them to their desired program. They met with counselors and set up a program to transfer after 2-3 semesters by taking all of the required classes and keeping a GPA of 3.7-3.8 for those classes.

@provence97 Then I definitely was not apart of that haha. I did apply to USC for art but was rejected last year (my senior year of HS). I have friends that did that though, however my grades and SAT scores weren’t up to par. I just did exceptionally well in my freshman year at CC.

Did anyones portal update tonight?

@WhitneyJoy did you find out via your portal or via mail first? And did you receive the email about requiring financial aid documents a few days before you received your acceptance? Sorry for all the questions lol.

@justamuggle Thank you!! Yes, it was dated May 30th. @collegebeans Thank you!! And no I didn’t. I had no change in my portal and had no access to OASIS either.

@jheintz I found out via mail, my portal hasn’t changed at all. And yes I did, I have to send in few documents, they sent this about 4-5 days ago before I found out.

@HeartlandCali First of all, CONGRATS!!!
If you don’t mind me asking, which one did financial aid ask for?
“Tax Information Form, Federal 2014 - Parents” or “Tax Return, Federal 2014 - Parents”?
Or maybe perhaps one that specifically says “Parents W2”?

@woahwhat Thanks very much! They asked for my Parents W2. I don’t think it really matters though - any request for a new document for financial aid at this point means you are likely being accepted. Good luck!

@HeartlandCali Hm, interesting. They asked for my 2 financial things at the end of april, but I still haven’t heard from them-no SGR no decision

@WhitneyJoy I know you already said last week but what day exactly did you send your SGR in? I sent mine in too and they said I would be hearing back soon but I’m so anxious I really just want to know and I live like an hour from LA

I see the USC 2015 transfer admits facebook group growing each day it’s been 3 days since i submitted my request to join and i’m still pending -_-

@sunita18 I submitted unofficial transcripts May 26. The date of the acceptance said May 30, got in the mail June 2. I’m in a suburb like 30 minutes away from the heart of Los Angeles, my guess is you’ll be hearing today.

Hi there everyone! I’m trying to send my grades via electronically (official transcript) however, I don’t know which address to send it to because on my SGR, for “electronic upload” it only has the option to upload it obviously. How would I go about this? Thanks!
