Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@justforusc Yeah, I read on here that you put the phone number of someone that knows your financial situation, such as your CC’s financial aid office. That’s pretty much all I did. It’s very possible that they could come after the $300 later if they find that I don’t have hardship, but for now it says my commitment is confirmed.

@trnsfrstdnt I am having the same issue too… =/ I also sent an unofficial transcript through you.usc but I am guessing they just haven’t had the time to review it.

@zettasyntax did you fax it over or how did you send it?

Hey guys it’s my first time posting here, I honestly don’t know if I should expect a reply back… but I’m really desperate and anxious right now and I truly want to know your opinion.

I applied to usc as a sophomore from a cc, with a major in neuroscience. I had a 4.0 before this spring, and they gave me a spring grade request. This semester I took three classes: calc 2, the 2nd general chem class, and eng 102h. Anyways, I ended up getting A’s on all of my classes except for the calc 2, which I think I will end up getting a B. Even though it’s not bad, it’s still a drop in the gpa. I’m also pretty involved and had a lot of extracurriculars, if it will help you guys with your opinion I can list all the things i’m involved in. What do you think of my chances? I’m just really anxious because that was the only class I didn’t worry about, and I ended up slacking off.

@Mustang012 Do you mean the fee waiver? When you go to pay, there was an option to apply for the waiver. You just put the number of your school’s financial aid in the box and that’s it - no letters or forms. Since it was so simple, I do agree that it’s possible that the waiver could be disputed at some point later on if/when USC looks into it.

@vivint I honestly don’t think it’s that much of a problem. I’d say your chances are still great. It’s not like you went from A’s to all C’s, so the drop isn’t all that significant. SGRs seem to be quite normal for sophomores and it seems like all the sophomore applicants have had a lot of luck on here. I really wouldn’t worry  Lots of people without perfect GPAs have been admitted.

Imperfect spring gpas? Like after getting an sgr?

@vivint lots of people have gotten in with B’s in calc. I wouldn’t stress too much. Your GPA is still strong.

@zettasyntax thanks! you’re always so helpful (:

@justforusc It was jucery13 who explained it pretty darn well. I wouldn’t have known what to do :stuck_out_tongue: I just hope they don’t come after all of us lol. I thought they were going to get me for waiving the Common App fee, but they never did.

I don’t understand… they will give you less financial aid over time so what… by your senior year you can no longer afford it and then have to drop out? That would play havok with USC students % of graduation which would be awful in a brochure. Where did you hear that they give you less financial aid over time?

@lordfx I’ve read somewhere that usc attempts to maintain a similar amount of aid each year. Additionally, I believe the graduation rate is ~93%. I’d imagine with such a high percentage, even if they do reduce aid each year, it’s must not be that significant of a reduction.

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but does the acceptance letter get placed in the mailbox or is it brought to the door? It seems rather large from the pics I’ve seen of it. Thanks guys

@jch718 In the mailbox. It’s not that huge. The mailman didn’t stuff it inside my mailbox, so I don’t really get the whole golden taco thing that people have mentioned lol :stuck_out_tongue: It’s pretty much the size of a standard folder, but I suppose quite a bit thicker. I liked it a lot more than ucla’s packet. Although I broke this little “usc” sign in the middle of the packet D= xD

it is the best looking packet I received out of all the schools I applied to though…

i still can not login to anything… do you know if the financial aid information on you.usc.edu is accurate?

Hi. I am still waiting for a decision from USC. I sent them SGR about 10 days ago. Yesterday I checked my financial aid award status and found out that USC requested “Ability to benefit verification” from me. The message has disappeared today even though I haven’t sent them anything. Is it a good/bad sign in regards to my admission decision? Or maybe it doesn’t have anything to do with my admission decision? Thank you.

@adam12345 It seems like everyone that receives that along with a financial aid email has been admitted, so I’d say you’re in  I didn’t get a financial aid email and was still accepted (though for the spring semester). Anyway, there’s a very high chance that you’ll be accepted soon - heck, maybe even tomorrow :stuck_out_tongue:

so i just talked to the undergrad admission office and they quickly updated my required documents! it seems that the counselor didn’t get a chance to look at mine yet and so he/she didn’t update it until i personally called

as for my admission status the lady on the phone said that the counselor will eventually look at my spring grades but she doesn’t know when :frowning: . i hope i dont hear back in mid july lol…
