Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@tnsfrstdnt thanks for the response, I didn’t understand all the hubbub with the “financial aid email” and acceptance.

@batusa I submitted my application and enrollment fee on June 21. I applied to Troy Hall, Troy West, Webb and Century and haven’t received any information yet. What about you? I read somewhere that assignments for transfer students start in mid june. I am not sure what that really means. I am wondering if that’s why I only see freshmen for suggest roommates…? I don’t have a problem with freshmen but I am 21. I don’t really want to live with someone who is 18. LOL

@BeigeCardigan yeah I’m in a super similar situation as you are it’s almost creepy! I applied to the exact same majors, but ppl was my 1st choice. I took 19 units this semester while working part time and did well (got a 4.0), but I’m still incredibly worried that I’ll be the unlucky guy that gets denied despite achieving a 4.0. I had a rough start to my college career (1.97 1st semester gpa) but since that time in over 50 units I’ve managed to bring that abysmal gpa up to a 3.69. I really had no excuse or explanation for those awful grades so I’m really worried it’s going to come back to bite me. So I think you working full time and still achieving solid grades like you did will help you a lot!

I had a question I’m hoping someone might know the answer to! Has it ever been done that they request spring grades, you get a 4.0 and you still get rejected? My Spring Quarter is just NOW finishing and I’m looking at a 4.0 and I’m not sure if that means I can still be rejected? Why would they SGR you if they’re just going to reject you again right?

Are people still getting admitted to the spring?
I was admitted to Marshall in the beginning of June for spring semester and really hope I am selected to move up to fall since I’m guessing I was in the first group to be admitted for the spring

@sunita18 Are you in-state? I see that a lot of international people are getting in for the fall semester still, so maybe it has to do with geographic location? I don’t know. I haven’t seen many/any spring semester acceptances lately.

@zettasyntax I live in the OC so like an hour away from USC

@sunita18 Hmm, this whole spring thing is really hard to figure out. I’ve been wondering if maybe they have more spots for international students and that it’s not that Marshall is necessarily “full”? Anyway, I hope you get bumped up somehow  I sure know I’m trying whatever it takes to see if I can convince them to let me in for fall :stuck_out_tongue:

@zettasyntax your spring too? Sorry I forgot haha and do you know if there are any bumps like from previous yeara

@sunita18 Yes, I’m a spring admit as well and I’m from East Los Angeles, so not far from USC either. I read in the USC thread that someone described the people that got moved up as “only a handful”, so that doesn’t really make it sound like the best odds for us, but maybe this year could be different?

USC just received my official transcripts today! (Opted in for rush delivery 1-2 days)
Time to play the waiting game again for the decision!

Also, I told my counselor I was interested in Sociology as a major choice and she said she’ll indicate it on my application still so I’m pretty surprised that could happen!

@rosyme I applied to Parkside and La Sorbonne (studios) and Parkside and Webb Tower (1b2p) as well as a 1b1p at Severance Str. Apts.

I also read that assignments for transfers start mid-June, but we just applied recently, so I guess our applications are yet to be reviewed?

I’m going to be a Junior in the Fall, and I’m 18 but most of my suggested roommates are 21 and above, which is weird. So I get how you feel, but in reverse :stuck_out_tongue:

@mochibbycake You were able to change your major at this point?? I want to change my second major, don’t know if I can do that

@jch718 Well I wish you luck and hope you get in! I hope they let us know soon :((

Is housing guaranteed for transfer students? And if yes, do you know if there are any on-campus apartments still available? Will I be able to see which dorms/apartments are already reserved while filling up my housing application?

@batusa WOW! You are a junior but 18?! I am like 3 years behind you! That’s amazing. Congrats. I did go back on my suggested roommates and everyone grew up by a year or more. So maybe they are finally reviewing transfer applicants. Hopefully, you get what you want. What’s your major?

@adam12345 No. Housing is not guaranteed for transfer students. If you can, apply now. It’s only $45. And no, you can’t see what dorms/apartments are filled up already. Unfortunately because transfer students hear last, we get last pick.

@vivint I applied as Business, first choice, and Economics, second choice. I told my counselor that I am finding myself interested in Sociology and if it’s okay to to change my major after admittance. She said she will indicate my interest in Sociology on my app for now and explained how to formally change your major when you are a student.

hi guys i want to transfer to usc from uw seattle, currently cum gpa of 3.68 and a 4.0 in macro 3.6 in micro 4.0 in english and 3.4 in calc. Am i good to go to transfer to marshall by next spring? If i have taken acctg and other prereq business core classes, will it transfer? Does anyone know about it? Thank you

Hey guys! Been following this thread for a while. I just got in last week and I’m trying to find housing. I’m looking into Gateway, but I’ll need a roommate. Any tips on how I can find a roommate?

Hey everyone! I’m a sophomore transfer and I have a question about housing. In the housing application online, it gives us the option to select dorms (freshman housing) as our preferences so does that mean it is possible we can get on campus dorms or no? Also, are there any under grad apartments ON campus? Sorry, I’m a bit confused. Thanks!
