@zettasyntax you said you submitted your SIR to UCLA: how did you go about withdrawing your acceptance? I also submitted mine to a UC and only recently made my choice to attend USC so I’m committed to both and I need to withdraw from the other. Did you call or send an email?
Anyone that has been admitted to the Facebook page, would you please add me? My name is Edgar Antillon.
@Mustang012 I actually haven’t withdrawn from UCLA yet. I’m being silly. Classes for UCLA start September 24th I believe and USC’s fall semester starts I believe in late August. If I don’t get in for the fall semester at USC, I’ll just stick with UCLA. I know this is a really strange plan, but I only want to attend USC if I can go in the fall. Sorry I wasn’t of actual help, but I haven’t withdrawn yet.
@zettasyntax Ohh I get you. Do you plan on attending orientation and registering for classes at UCLA even if you haven’t been bumped to the fall semester at USC yet? My plan was also strange, I would stay committed to both as long as I could, just in case I had a change of mind on which I wanted to attend. But I finally decided to go with USC, though I’m hoping I don’t change my mind. It’s alright, Though I just have a question for you. I read about your situation (hopefully that doesn’t sound creepy haha) and you mentioned that you didn’t get into USC last year. Now that you’re accepted, why would you choose UCLA over USC, as I would assume USC would be your top choice out of the two? Or is it only because of you entering in the spring?
@Mustang012 Yeah, I already made the initial housing payment and stuff, so my strange plan is to basically do everything as if I were attending UCLA in the fall and just drop everything if USC suddenly bumps me up to the fall semester. Not creepy at all, hah
It’s true that USC is my top choice, but getting into the spring is really just too much for me. Like I said, I would drop UCLA for USC in a heartbeat if they accepted me into the fall semester tomorrow, but the spring admit thing is bleh. I can’t take anymore classes at community college (they sent a polite email saying I have too many units - I have between 90 and 100). So I would be doing nothing throughout the fall. Anyway yeah, that’s my silly dilemma
@zettasyntax Ohh I see. As far as financial aid goes, how much are you required to pay for either school? Well hopefully they bump you up to the fall semester! It would suck not to be able to attend your top choice, especially since USC is better than UCLA
. Given your situation, I would chose USC, but that’s just me. Either way, whether you’re at USC or UCLA, I’m sure you’ll do fine.
@Mustang012 For USC, I believe it would be 14K out of pocket and UCLA wants about 9K. They both appear to cover pretty much all of the tuition, so I’m assuming that’s what I’d need to pay for living expenses. I know! I’ve wanted to go to USC for so long and then this happens even without an SGR. I’m still very sour over it
I would choose USC too, but it doesn’t seem like they want me that bad lol.
Anyone know when/how to register for classes?
Hi guys so I emailed my counselor and she said I’ll hear back my decision in just a few days and I submitted my transcript two days ago. Is that good news or it can be anything? Thank you!
Welp since usc fin aid isn’t enough for me , I’m definelty going to ucla now. I hope this opens up a spot for any spring admits ! Econ dornsife.
If my restrictions changed on oasis, does that mean that I am accepted, or does it just mean that they made a decision?
I submitted my unofficial transcripts last week and it was taken off the required document within the next day. Does anyone’s application status say something along this line. "We have received your Common Application and USC Supplement, and it appears we require no additional information at this time. We will be reviewing applications through the month of May, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify transfers by June 1st. Sometimes, in the course of our review of applications, we find that we need additional information. In such cases we will email a request. If you receive a request for more information, please respond promptly. " It just appears weird to me that it is stated June 1st when the deadline should be July since I was SGR’d.
@scismydream Did it just change today? It certainly means a decision has been made. If other things like the stars fills out tomorrow, then you’ve been accepted. Also, a fair chunk of people get a financial aid email just before they get accepted, but I didn’t get one and was still accepted (although maybe I didn’t get one because I was a spring admit). Anyways, if you see an email from financial aid or changes to your stars report, that means you made it
does anyone know the purpose of the math placement exam? is there any advantage or consequence to doing well or not so well on it?
@Veip12 I got the same message on my portal when they received my official transcript for my SGR. It sounds weird, but it’s probably just to indicate they got everything they need and it’s in review.
On the you.usc account under financial aid it was always indicated that they didn’t require any additional forms when I hadn’t sent in my spring grades, but when I checked today it showed that they now want proof of high school graduation. Can this mean anything?
@vivint that means you got accepted! the form should be titled “ability to benefit” and expect your package to arrive in 2 days ;). Also, that will go away if you sent your official hs transcript since it takes about a day for the fin aid to get the proof of graduation from the admissions office
I just checked my you.usc.edu portal and under received documents all the entries have doubled or quadrupled. And a new entry “academic eval for transfers”? ■■■ is going on over there?
Here is a pic of what I’m seeing. http://i(dot)imgur(dot)com/2rqXXVn.jpg replace the (dot)s, spam filter is screwing with links.
@trnsfrstdnt thank you for the response!!
@blahvetblah Not sure… I just checked mine and it’s normal.
