Official UVA Transfer Thread - Fall 2012

Ohhh okay. I am probably completely over thinking it then. SLDKFJDSKjfkdsljfakljfkl Can’t wait any longer.

You guys can search for classes, right?

Yup, everyone can!

Wow people have really been posting on this lately

@ag1993 Im the same as you got a 570 reading and a 800 on math though. Im sort of counting my self out cause my essays weren’t great looking back at them. Just a week left though, who knows

@x0chopstix0x thanks for link, but 37% seems kinda depressing for engineering…

Haha 37% isn’t that bad! It’s about the same as CAS. I remember finding this last year and dying when I saw that the A-school only accepts about 5-10 applicants every year.
Sorry, I’ve just been spamming this forum trying to make time go by a little faster. I was reading last year’s and 2010’s thread though and supposedly, getting financial aid to-do’s in the last week or so is a good sign!

What if we haven’t applied for financial aid yet? Still completing fafsa…
Wait…what does the fact that we can view classes mean?

Hm, did you say you would be applying for FINAID on the application? If so, I feel like they would at least have “Fin Aid Application” on your to do list? No clue though T_T

Everyone can view classes so it doesn’t mean anything :(

Is it bad that I don’t have any financial aid to-dos after just receiving my check? I actually applied for financial aid I believe I sent in everything except he signature. Bad sign? Am I worrying for no reason?

@x0chopstix0x

I also just got a big to-do list. It seems I made a mistake on the CSS, because all my forms are inquiries about my ‘substantial assets’. I did the fafsa, css, uva signature page, etc in Feb/early March, I guess they just looked over my financial aid position now. I also think it’s a good sign that the due date for my to-do list is June 1st. What can it mean? ? Either way, I’m excited!

I haven’t done financial aid so I’m not sure but I think Dean J addressed that financial aid shows up on everyones to do list that applies for it.

Did anyone else get into UNC?

Ahh, I really don’t know what it means. I think everyone who applied for FINAID gets the “Financial Aid Application” on their To-Do list which is due 4/30 (if you haven’t completed it). But I don’t know about the other stuff! If I don’t get into UVA, I’m not even going to bother completing my other forms by June, so why would they have it there hmmm. I need to stop psyching myself out though or else I might die when I get rejected haha

i still think its a standard message. i remember reading in a post by dean j that their whole todo list appears on your status page when you apply for it… i think this also depends on when you submitted financial aid app

I also wanted to add that after financial aid reviews your info they request that info to verify what you have. I honestly think its separate from admissions.

I read the same Dean J post. I think everyone gets financial aid on their todo list based on when they submitted the info.

If you guys had a choice between UVA and University of Michigan, what would you pick?

my circle just turned into a check…i can’t take this anymore. I NEED TO KNOW

Yes! If you get into UVA also which will you choose?

I would pick UVA over U.Mich/UNC any day. One, its way cheaper. Two, McIntire>Ross in my opinion. Three, its closer to home. Four, the career services are about as good in all three so job placement is less of an issue.

I also read the ICE syllabus and it looks awesome. It’s less textbook reading and more oriented towards articles and journals, and then follows up with discussion. A lot like case studies at MBA programs.

Got into UNC and umich for math/econ. pretty good chance into UVA as well. seriously debating…

@ kb09026
Not sure which I’ll choose. I’m also waiting on Cornell, W&M, and BC. Of all that I applied to UNC and UVA are my top. I’ll probably pick UVA if I get into McIntire, but if I get in just for econ like I did at UNC I’m not sure. UVA most likely if I get in in any case, but I’ll visit both schools after finals next week and make my decision then. Just keeping my fingers crossed for now!

Yeah I talked about ICE and other programs in my essay. They sound amazing. I’m so tired of the massive lectures and dull textbook recitations at my current school. ICE sounds like an incredibly interesting alternative.
