Official UVA Transfer Thread - Fall 2012

ICE is case studies on case studies on case studies.

I got into VT’s engineering school…I have a 4.0 college GPA, but I’m still scared that my 3.7 weighted high school GPA and low SAT scores put my application in jeopardy!

REALLY want to get into UVA SEAS…is it harder to get into UVA’s SEAS than VT’s E-school?
I remember ppl who applied as first years got into UVA’s but not virginia tech’s…

@HomeBound

that makes sense. I’m in state for UVA but I think I’d fit in at UNC a lot better from what I’ve heard/seen. In all honesty I’ll probably just end up picking whichever is cheaper since I’m pre-med. We’ll see though.

Does anyone else besides me think they’ll probably release decisions on Friday?

@kb, I feel like they’ll release friday.

I’m also anticipating a Friday release. Probably 5PM if history serves as any indicator.

TWO MORE DAYSSSSSSS. Friday is really early, though. I think…last year it was released on the 29th which is just 2 days before it should have been released but 4 days?? HOPEFULLY. pleasepleasepleaseplease.

UMich, UNC, and UVA are all great schools with different pros and cons - not really fair to compare a specific aspect of each to one another, IMO.

Though I’d assume, since those are all public schools, that the best choice would be whichever one was cheapest.

UNC is a lot cheaper for OOS like me to go to compared to Umich and UVA. but the point is if it is worth it to pay a few grands less but have a harder time upon graduation in the job market. (Cuz seems to me UNC’s name might now not be as big as UVA and UMich.)

did anyone else get multiple e-mails pertaining to financial aid ???

@edennz23 I didn’t get any emails but I had documents pop up on my SIS account! You got emails?!

ihavethefaith: It would depend on your financial situation if you were choosing, then. Being a CC in-stater, I’ve heard nothing but good things about McIntire (the building is really, REALLY nice as well)

Though if you feel the name value trumps the financials, then hey, go for it.

And on another note, I feel ridiculously nervous/envious that I’m not getting any emails or documents on my SIS, though I didn’t apply for fin aid.

@edennz23

I received a single email today from UVA concerning financial aid. This is the first part of it:

“We have added an item to your To Do List in your Student Center regarding your application for need-based financial aid. Please log in to SIS to review your To Do List items, located on the right hand side of your Student Center, and follow the instructions for each item. Please click on any item to view further information about it, including the due date for each item. If you fail to complete your To Do List item by the due date listed for that item, your eligibility for some types of need-based financial aid may be impacted.”

I hope this means something! :)

Edit: They want proof of my draft selective service thing, and apparently it’s due June 1st

I just got a single email as well (the exact same one as @GregFields. Did you receive the same one to multiple emails or several different emails to one address?

the more i think about the fin aid to-do’s the more i am beginning to think they mean something. why do only some people that applied for fin aid have them and some do not? that doesn’t make much sense. it does seem that on last years thread everyone who posted they had them got in… maybe its just a coincidence but it seems like a connection to me… Also, if fin aid doesn’t know who is admitted… how do they know who to send the $400 deposit to as soon as decisions are up?

For what it’s worth, I’ve had my green check for over a month. Also, shortly after getting the check I received SIS Fin Aid “To-do’s.” Just thought I’d add to the conspiracy theories. Cheers! (Hope they release Friday!)

hmm i think theres a connection. its weird they’d send them all after the check… its like they do it after the decision is made… hmm. If this is conspiracy is true, do you think they send out to-do’s for wait listed students as well?

You guys have checks and fin aid to dos!!! Still no check. Although I didn’t apply for financial aid so i know i won’t get the second part.

Here is my gathered information from the last two years LOL:

Okay, but the thing is there were a lot of people that just didn’t say whether they had finaid OR a lot of people that were rejected just never posted on the thread again. hahah

Haha chopstix! You’re hilarious. I love how thats all placed in a concise manner through one post. Well done (:

I noticed the same thing. I wish more people would have posted their admissions decision it would clear things up bit. However, from the small sample we have the conspiracy is supported. Do you think it is just a coincidence? Even with such a small number its odd that it has always worked out that way!!
