***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

@codeman101, weird indeed, but don’t sell yourself short. Perhaps your spot was secured by a combination of course rigor (including in the right subjects), strong test scores and other indications of high aptitude and likelihood of success that you communicated through various parts of your application. Instate helps, but you got it fair and square. Congratulations, and good luck.

Have any in-state students accepted on Thursday still not received the packet in the mail? I live somewhat close to UW and my accepted friends (who all live by me) all received their packets on Thursday. Just thought it was strange.

@UWfromCA maybe Ive taken a total of 8 AP classes, 2 honors classes, and also scored really high in the Stem Fields along with 5 ECs. I’ve seen people with way higher stats get rejected. Im so confused on how college admissions work. Oh well

@malpal9823 Im in State (Olympia Wa )and haven’t received the packet yet. Waiting. Maybe it will come on Monday. All my friends got their letters also.

Late Post- accepted March 14th 11:30pm (showed up on portal two days after) OOS
GPA: 3.73 (UW) 4.28 (W) <- high school GPA
SAT: 2210 (2320 superscored)
EC: played piano for ten years (received honors/distinctions), color guard for two years, community service (library volunteer/humane society), interned at an accounting firm
Accepted: BU, UCD, Gonzaga, UW, UO
Waitlisted: Cal Poly SLO, UCSD
Denied: UCLA
Got into first-choice major, psychology

My Daughter hasn’t gotten hers either (accepted on the first day) and we live in the Seattle area.

I also heard that Direct admissions receivers get their letters later than the general admission receivers. Can anybody confirm this?

Each department is different, and things change year by year. Your department’s website may have the answer.

@Codeman101 @maxlegroom Okay, glad to hear I’m not the only one. Thanks!

@Codeman101 Where did you hear that about DA letters?

Received my packet in the mail today. For future reference, my portal was updated on the first day and I received a purple and gold scholarship for $4500. Applied for honors college but didn’t get in (essays were terrible tbh) won’t be attending but congrats to everyone accepted!

Is it worth it to write out an appeal? I have my reasons for why I believe I didn’t get in but I don’t know if they will think they are “good enough” to change their decision. Very few people actually get admitted through it so I don’t even know if it’s worth my time. I believe that I would be a great student there but I guess they didn’t see that in my application.

@actuallysad are you able to view your scholarship on your portal?

@malpal9823 haven’t received mine either and my portal was updated the 15th. Everyone else in my area has already received their letters and I live across the water from Seattle.

We live on the Eastside of Seattle and haven’t got our letter, but were in the first rounds of acceptances as well. If she doesn’t get DA, Cal Poly might be a better choice for us.

@gillibeean Nope, I’d assume that it’s under financial aid status but my aid hasn’t been calculated yet so there’s nothing there.

@moonlight678 I heard it from a couple friends of mine who are sophomores at UW

@Codeman101 I’m guessing that the reason for that is because they stuff their packets with special info about DA (I think, according to UW website).

Have anyone emailed foster regarding the DA decisions? I just want to know for sure that I got turned down. And I haven’t received my mail either (live 20-30mins from uw) so I was unable to find out through the acceptance letter what major I got into.

Has anybody gotten DA into neurobio?
