***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

@Codeman101 I have heard that too! All of my friends have received their letters, I haven’t. My transcript indicated DA to Foster.

OOS (CA) daughter received packet in the mail today–it was open!! I don’t think anything was missing though; I hope not. She received Purple and Gold scholarship but cost of attendance is still too high…we’ll just have to continue to visit Seattle as tourists. Congrats to all who plan to attend. U Dub is a great place to be.

@luckymom22 OOS Texas…daughter received packet today…also opened (transcript was loaded the night of 3/14). Received purple and gold scholarship too. Agree with you…still too high cost wise. LOVE that campus and school and we feel so proud she got admitted to such a prestigious school OOS. She will be next member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2021! Gig EM!

@luckymom22 weird, my packet was open when I got it in the mail, too. Maybe they just sealed them poorly?

It sounds like the machine that was supposed to seal those envelopes didn’t do the job. Hopefully no one received an empty one!

I’m confused about the major indicated on my acceptance… I did not want to apply directly for the major, especially because I’m unsure of what I want to do and have even changed my mind about what I probably want to study since November, when I applied. I’m pretty sure I just indicated it as an interest? I’m not tied to this major am I?

@lenoodle What major is indicated?

I live about 30 miles north of Seattle, and I still haven’t received my letter. I was accepted on Tuesday night. My unofficial transcript indicated prescience, but if it’s true that DA students get their acceptance letters later, is there a chance that my unofficial transcript is wrong and I got into CSE?

@gordawn,

Your unofficial transcript would indicate CS or CE.

Also, according to the department’s website:

"CSE DA decisions are sent at the same time as UW freshman admissions decisions, during the last two weeks of March. Your major will be listed on your offer letter. Students offered CSE DA will see Computer Science or Computer Engineering listed as their major. Students who are not offered DA will see pre-engineering or pre-science listed as their major.

“In late March, CSE will also contact DA students with information about our program. Everyone offered CSE DA will receive multiple emails from CSE. Admitted students will not miss our offer.”

The department’s website also notes:

“For 2017, over 5,000 freshmen applicants [out of the over 44,000 who applied to the UW] indicated Computer Science or Computer Engineering as their first choice major. Of these applicants, around 150 students were offered direct admission. These admits have an average unweighted gpa of 3.97 and are mostly Washington state residents. Average test scores are: ACT 34, SAT math 764, SAT verbal 758.”

Got my acceptance letter in the mail today. I received the purple and gold scholarship but even with it the cost of OOS attendance is around $45,000. Although I love UW, I can’t justify having my parents pay that much because we have two amazing public universities in my state. There’s always med school lol.
Congrats to everyone who got in and will be attending this amazing university!

@luckymom22 same! I’m OOS in Michigan and my envelope was opened too.

How do we know if we have been awarded the Purple and Gold scholarship?

It comes in your acceptance package - in the mail.

We live near as well and still haven’t received any mail!

Does anyone know if you can get financial aid besides the purple and gold scholarship? I got an email from them asking to submit tax documents, and I’m wondering if that means I could still qualify for aid that’s finance related instead of merit

Has anyone heard from the Honors College yet?

The Honors Program notification period is from March 20 to April 14.

Good luck!

@UWfromCA that’s what I thought… I was just confused because someone posted they got in. Thank you!

I’m not sure if there are other scholarships for students other than merit. However, I am OOS and I had my portal updated on the 15th that I got in but I haven’t received my letter. Then I got an email of uploading more documents for financial aid and verification purposes. Since the letters that are sent to admitted students include financial aid, perhaps I haven’t gotten my letter yet because they asked for more FA info…? I guess we’ll see!
