I am a student from out of state (IL) who has not demonstrated any interest other than my application to admission to both the school and the honors program. Do you know how much UW weighs demonstrated interest?

Clicking a specific major will take you to the UW General Catalog. Click “Undergraduate Program” on the right side of the screen for more information about admission pathways (including whether the major is one of the few with a freshman direct admission pathway) and prerequisites.

"Pre-Major (pre-science, pre-humanities, etc)
“The vast majority of students enter UW as a pre-major (this includes pre-science, pre-humanities, etc.) This status simply means a student has not yet declared a major at UW. The type of pre-major a student is coded as correlates to what that student put on their UW application but does not impact a student’s choice of major later.”

@Mgkarlsvik This may have already been asked, but did your friend’s portal update or did she only get the letter in the mail?
Both of my friends that got accepted did not get updates on their portal
