@chicgeek9 I emailed about taking summer classes (I applied for fall admission) if I were to get admission and they responded back the next day, so they do respond back fast. If you want to see how full classes are, you can search classes up here I think
Make sure you select Seattle campus with fall as your quarter. The psych prereqs I need are already full for autumn and summer, so I already know i’m screwed :(( I don’t know why transfers aren’t accepted earlier and allowed to register with the rest of the sophomores/juniors, as putting us at the same time as freshman makes it basically impossible to get the classes we need.
I emailed admissions asking if there was a target date for when they wanted to release transfer decisions, and this is what they said
"Thank you for contacting UW Admissions!
Currently, we are in our notification period for transfer admission decisions. During the months of May and June, transfer decisions will be released on a random and rolling basis. Unfortunately, we are able to guarantee a date within this deadline. When a decision has been made, applicants will be notified via email. We recommend that applicants check their emails weekly for any updates."
Is the scholarship for all applied transfer students, or only for people who applied to a certain major?
I have recieved only two emails from UW since I submitted my application. One saying my decision will be updated on my NetID, and one about how to apply to my major. I never even got an email to set up a NetID. I also got the email saying they successfully recieved my application.
I don’t think I have recieved everything UW has sent out via email. Nothing is going to my spam/trash either. Anyone having a similar problem?
Hey @hamilsha ! That email was for all transfers. I would definitely contact admissions if you did not receive the NetID email, since the rest of us got ours a couple months ago all on the same day.
Sorry for being confusing…I shouldn’t have assumed we all got that email! I didn’t apply for any scholarship, but that particular scholarship is an honors scholarship. I have a 3.87 GPA, so maybe it was sent to transfers who meet a certain GPA threshold? Again, I don’t actually know and spoke too soon when I said we all got that email. Now I’m not sure why some did and others didn’t.
***edit and that scholarship is for Washington residents, so I assume no OOS applicants got it.
@volcano75 that’s understandable. I am an in-state student with a 4.24 GPA (4.0 on the UW grading scale). What you said made me realize there is definitely something wrong with how UW is contacting me.
To add to my previous comment, they put my transfer application automatically on the NetID I made when I applied as a freshman applicant. It is updated and says I applied as a transfer, but I just have not gotten any emails from UW.
Update: I called the Office of Admissions and they informed me that if you have applied in the past, your new application is updated to your already created NetId. This is why I never got an email to create a NetID because my application had already been uploaded to the one I created previously.
They also informed me that UW operates on a “No News Is Good News” basis. This explains why I have only recieved one email from UW since I submitted my application in January.
I would like to note that the email people have received from “Martin Family Foundation Honors Scholarship.” This scholarship is only for in-state students and not OOS or international.
Sorry to hear this :(. To clarify, are you talking about general admissions or your major? If general, then I’m assuming UW must have already done an initial review of the applications. I am getting nervous as I haven’t gotten any news yet (which supposedly is a good thing…), but I guess we’re only halfway through the notification period.
Regardless of the outcome though, I wish you and everyone else the best of luck in your future endeavors!
Well it looks like 2 out of the 3 classes I wanted to take at UW Seattle are now full… does anyone know if I am admitted to UW, could I take those 2 classes at my community college and the one that isn’t full at UW? Is dual enrollment allowed and then transferring those credits over?
I’m pretty sure you can dual enroll. I go to North Seattle College and there are always UW students in my math/undergraduate research classes. I think the only thing you’d need to worry about is your financial aid if you have it. You need to be FT at UW to get aid, but if that’s not a problem I think you’ll be fine taking 2 classes at your community college and 1 at UW.
I forgot about financial aid, sigh. Yes I qualify for aid, so I would have to be full time at UW or pay a lot of money just to take one class. Idk what classes I’ll take now.
@poolsideconvo78 have you tried asking those other schools if they can extend the deadline for you? I think I remember reading from last year threads some were in a similar position as you and they called to ask if they could extend deadlines bc UW was their top choice school they’re waiting on.
