My DD drew a picture of Nutella.

I used a sketch of an owl with the anatomical parts labeled.

I put a collage of things that I like that I already had as the background on my twitter and desktop, haha! There is a picture of a girl holding a sign that says “Music = Life”, a rainbow that looks like a music staff with various musical symbols on it, a picture of a street sign that say “Broadway” and “One Way”, a peace symbol in the shape of a heart, a picture of a Jesus fish, a picture of a keyboard, and a picture of a hand that has “Love” and “Kiss” written on it in a bunch of different languages.

Ooh, that’s a lot… :)

the wait is absolutely killing me!! the decisions need to come tomorrow, forget waiting for the 23rd or april 1st. And i would LOVE TO be in martel, duncan/mcmurtry, or weiss (in that order).

I kinda don’t apply to this thread, but I hope you guys don’t mind if I join!

I’ve been checking ESTHER constantly. I heard that’s most likely the first place that will post the decisions. I have no idea what residential college I want to be in. I haven’t worried about researching them because I know they’ll be chosen for us.

I put a picture of my family hiking - I love my family and I love hiking!
I am so excited for Monday/Tuesday!
I’m from Oregon - yay for geographic diversity! :)

@Churd23 What have you done between dec. 15 and now to increase your admissions chances?

@clinegirl Hey I’m from Oregon too… I got deferred from ED. What are your stats…they have about 32 kids from Oregon at Rice

@jchartier I sent an email to both the automated rice admissions email address and to a rice admissions officer that I have been in contact that basically had a list of awards I’ve won, community service work I’ve been involved with, and extracurricular activities like clubs and stuff I’ve done or been put in charge of between the time i submitted my ed app in late October to now. I also said that they are still my number one choice and I am still enthusiastic.

Do you guys think being from NY is an advantage for me? I’ve got 2360 SATs and near 800 SAT IIs so I know my academics are fine. My only real hook is as a musician but I applied for engineering.

Rice is my current top choice and I was recently rejected from MIT (deferred EA) so I’m praying I get in to Rice

JDong haven’t you applied to Caltech? You can definitely get into Caltech I assure you! Many people I know with similar good stats got into Caltech but rejected by MIT.

ps: I’ll be very much surprised if you don’t get into Rice, (assuming your ECs’ as good as your academics)
so be reassured.

Nah, I didn’t apply to Caltech. I dunno why but I really couldn’t see myself going there. I was pretty ignorant thinking that a bunch of focused, but non-engineering/science-based ECs could get me into MIT. I’ve heard Caltech is basically impossible to get into without research-based ECs or some incredible hook anyway.

My box was really stupid. Oh well.

Wow, we could hear on tuesday…that sounds so early

we could hear tomorrow ;)… second to last monday of March

tomorrow, that’s too early. so is next tuesday… Rice is one of my best!

My box was a picture of my favorite tennis player Jelena Jankovic.

She won a pretty big tournament today. Good vibes?

I’m from Oregon too!

I put the Mutant Enemy logo in the box and wrote in “Grrr…ARGH!” by hand in a bright pink pen.

@JDong I got deferred EA then rejected by MIT too. I didn’t apply to Caltech. I didn’t really want to be in California during the economic crisis down there. I don’t have great test scores like you, though. I got a 30 composite ACT. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and am 2/385(<----keeps getting smaller ). That’s really all I have going for me, besides a bunch of clubs. But not many EC’s outside of school clubs. I hope we find out soon! I really, REALLY want to go to Rice!
