@simplyjuil best of luck to the both of us. Test scores most definitely aren’t everything. I think it helps show you’re qualified but past a certain point there’s not much difference. Ex: I don’t think a 2100 is much different from a 2300 when you factor in all the personal stuff

@JDong Thanks! Yeah, I think you’re right about the test scores. I’m Hispanic and Muslim (which I mentioned in my essays) so maybe that will help? haha

AAAAHHH! The suspense is killing me!

@wakka I feel your pain, I really do. We must be strong, it’s [hopefully] almost here!

In the past, how has Rice let applicants know about the notification dates? Will we only find out the notification date on that day? Or a few days before?

You’ll never know…they only say BY April 1st

I read that last year they let decisions out on March 23 (a Monday). They usually notify first by ESTHER, then email, then “snail mail.”

are you serious??? i just got locked out of esther for logging in too many times…

meh, gotta email them…and decisions come out tomorrow…

Uh oh! Did you get locked out for signing in too many times or entering the wrong ID/ password?

Decisions don’t necessarily come out tomorrow.

I’m going to be so disappointed if decisions don’t come out tomorrow or Tuesday.

I have been getting my hopes so high that they will come out then, which is weird because I’m not even for sure on Rice, though I am in love with the residential system and Rice is the only college I applied to that does it.

We do not know when the decisions will be posted exactly, but it will be early next week. In a meanwhile, let’s answer some of these questions if you will!

WHICH OTHER COLLEGES DID YOU APPLY TO?

WHERE DID YOU GET ACCEPTED SO FAR?

WHY DID YOU APPLY TO RICE?

I’ll go first.

I also applied to Columbia, U Penn, Chicago, WUSTL, Bowdoin, Brandeis. (and more)

UMich, UIUC, Oberlin, Brandeis, Rochester

Because Rice is one of the coolist universities! Just look at its name! RICE!

1) All the Ivies except Cornell, Duke, UChicago, Northwestern, Rice, Scripps, UConn, Georgetown

2) Uconn, Scripps, UChicago

3) B/c of its cozy size/residential college system, plus it’s relatively cheap.

MIT, UT Austin, and UNT.

UNT and UT

I love that they offer so many opportunities for undergraduate research, and internships with NASA :)

I’ll answer for my son!

Amherst, Dartmouth, WUSTL, Emory, Muhlenberg, University of Richmond, University of Rochester, University of Texas at Austin, Susquehanna, Rhodes

WUSTL, Muhlenberg (unofficially, based on strong hint in invitation to apply for honors program), University of Rochester, UT, Rhodes, Susquehanna

My son is very interested in medicine or engineering, and he could study either science or engineering at Rice. He also really liked the campus and students when he visited. It’s also in Texas, not too far from my family.

I’m hoping they’ll release tomorrow or Tuesday - I want to know.

MIT, Caltech, UChicago, Harvard, Case Western

MIT, Caltech, UChicago, Case Western

Good engineering, good music, residential college system, warm weather, possibility of merit aid

@bookworm You got into MIT and Caltech?! Congrats! Please leave a spot at Rice for those of us that have to choose between Rice and UNT!! >< haha.

I wouldn’t really depend on last year’s trend for sending out notifications. That’s what I did for ED and the suspense killed me, only to be notified on the very day that they had said we would be notified.

@book_worm: erh…MIT, Caltech, U Chicago… nice man. can you give me your chicago acceptance? that was my dream school.
