Rejected big time man. So much for that. :/

I got rejected too… I’m kinda shocked about it… I’ve already made my assumptions, but I want to know why…

rejection (especially from Rice) sucks. :(

Rejected. Time to cry.

Sorry for the bad news, guys. You will be happy wherever you matriculate. I promise!

Waitlisted. Boooo Rice was my #1! :(

Another waitlist here.

To those who got accepted : Congratulations ! If you have multiple choices, please think hard and make a decision that you will be happy with for the rest of your life. To others, you must be understandably very excited …cherish the moments !

To those who got rejected : disappointment-frustration-anger is natural. It sounds banal but there is no other way but to give the college a speedy burial as quickly as possible in your minds and move on with the other wonderful choices you have got.

For mostly the students and often the parents, the last few months have been particularly hard …economy, jobs, reducing scholarship money, increase in number of college applicants, etc etc .

If you all have come through this as indeed you have, you can take on any challenge in life. Good Luck !

wait-listed. Rice was my #2. Huge amount of applications this year, according to the e-mail I recieved

Okay, so I didn’t get in. Now I’m considering University of Houston for opportunities to do internships at NASA. I also applied to UNT and UT, but there is no opportunity to do internships with NASA there. I know these aren’t the prestigious universities we’re used to discussing, but what do you guys think? (I want to major in Physics.)

This may explain your conspicuous absence and silence. It’s a good thing you’re from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You should have plenty of cheese to go with that whine.

Sorry little one, you could not be more wrong in this case, in every respect. Now run along and be a pest on some other forum. Some day it will come to you and you’ll slap your forehead and say “Doh!” But at least no one will see the embarrassment on your face when you do. Although in self-recognition you might then consider changing your name to dimbulb.

And congrats to all who were accepted, and best wishes and good luck to all who were not.

@simplyjuil: I do not believe that going to Rice gives one any special advantage to doing an internship at NASA. I imagine that any internships there could be applied for from anywhere. Furthermore, I think NASA in Clear Lake is mostly run by contractors. With NASA cutting back on jobs, perhaps you should set your sights broader if not higher. For example, there are many places connected with NASA. I can think of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Goddard Space Flight Center, Cape Canaveral, Marshall Space Flight Center, etc.

I also noticed today that Astronaut Whitson did her undergraduate work at Iowa Wesleyan College.

So if your dream is to work for NASA, there are many other paths than through Rice U.

the attitude is so hilarious ( and sad ) …thanks for providing ( at the cost of one’s sense of proportions ) comic relief to us as we dig deeper into the hole ( choosing between UC Berkeley, Stanford & Rice ! ).

We caught it - I actually posted #304, then deleted it because I thought it was so obvious everyone would figure it out right away. post 304# and #305 and #306.

um, is there an appeals process at rice?? thanks… i probably wont use it by my dad was pestering me if there is… and i just need to know if they have it…coz i couldnt find it listed…

indianinsaudi,

Unfortunately it is unlikely that there is an appeals process for a denial at Rice (or probably any school). Sorry for your disappointment, and good luck with your acceptances.

Oh, I must’ve originally missed these posts. I wasn’t following this thread that closely. Still, I knew immediately what was going on. But I wanted to give him (or his alter ego) every opportunity to “dig deeper” before calling him out. Both the “good cop” and the “bad cop” were more than willing to oblige:
