Forlan got the golden ball.
Muller=best young player+ golden boot award winner!

Andr

Yeah, I agree. There was wayyy too much diving
Half the players were rolling around on the ground crying more than they were actually playing. Things like this really ruin the sport for me but I congratulate Spain on their win. But I’m still not happy with the coach for putting Fabregas and Torres in at like the last minute :/

So there is no presentation for golden ball, golden boot and best young player awards?

Congrats Spain
Picked you from the beginning!!

Congrats Spain!!! Que Viva Espana!

Im super happy for Müller and Forlán, but I was secretly hoping Özil would get the golden ball =P

SPAIN!!! that is all…

So much flopping. :l

Well, here’s to the 2014 World Cup, assuming the world doesn’t end in 2012! :P

Delete this thread

No. Keep this thread.

But man… the theatrics in this game were horrible.

i hated it.

Congrats to Spain though. Casillas is a monster.

Congrats Spain! :)

Ewww Mesut Oezil…not even German, lol. Btw, no way he was going to win the Golden Boot. He played well, but there were many players who were better.

All those cards to the Dutch were a long time coming, really. This whole tournament Van Bommel and co. have been just being plain reckless with their fouls, and I think the ref came in aware of this. Spain certainly exploited this with their diving, but the previous thug-play of the Dutch probably influenced Webb a lot when it came to his impressions of what was going on.

Not to mention Robben has spent the tournament thinking the field was a swimming pool, so complaining about diving shouldn’t be something the Dutch ought to do.

I’m real happy that Forlan got the Golden Ball; he’s been absolutely magnificent. If Spain had a guy like him that was deadly long range, they would’ve won this game like 3 or 4-0.

Can anybody find the goal by Giovanni van Bronckhorst vs. Uruguay? The really far out strike but the video must have Ian Darke’s commentary: “ABSOLUTE FIRECRACKER!” I’ve been looking foreeeeeever. That goal, Donovan’s goal vs. Algeria, Bradley’s goal vs. Slovenia, and a goal by either Argentina or Uruguay (it might have been Suarez or Forlan or Tevez) where the player was at the 18 yard box and had a huge bend and put it off the right post and in (does anybody remember who scored this one?)

just rewatch on ESPN3.com That goal was FIRE. And the goal you were talking about was Uruguay, when Forlan scored against Ghana. Forlan is a straight beast.

Trouble maker in CHIEF!

Nope, not the Forlan goal against Ghana but it looked a lot like that except it bent a heck of a lot more. Thanks for the ESPN3 idea - didn’t even think of that.

“Now van Bronckhorst with PACE! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! IT IS AN AB.SO.LUTE. FI.UH.CRACK.UH. FROM GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST!!!”

Love that call by Ian Darke so much. It’s too bad they had Martin Tyler doing the game today AKA Mr. I’m-Incredibly-Bored-With-My-Job instead of Darke and Harkes doing commentary.

eh… well forlan was basically the only guy who could bend **** like that

This is bugging me. I also forgot to mention that Winston Reid’s goal for New Zealand in stoppage time is another one of my favorites.
