Am I the only one who really liked Ji Yun-Nam’s goal against Brazil? It’s not only the position of Ji when he scored but the significance of North Korea (ranked 105th) scoring against Brazil (something Portugal and Chile couldn’t do) that I really adored.

^ it wasnt a hard goal, everybody was without focus and complaining because of the yellow card received moments before.

God, I f***in HATE Spain! I wanted Germany to win, but then Spain beat them so I was rooting for the Netherlands because I ultimately just wanted Spain to lose. And now everyone on facebook’s status is like "ESPA

why do u hate Spain so much?

it’s full of spaniards

…

so what? =P

^ Yep.=] Actually every german player is german, otherwise they can’t play for the national team. Even players like Podolsky, who was born in Poland and Cacau, who was born and raised in Brazil are technically germans, since they own a german citizenship.

Finally learning spanish for 5 years pays off for something ![]()
Congrats Spain <3
I was slightly disappointed in Villa’s performance but he was still great.
Anyone else think the referee was crazy for handing out those insane amounts of yellow cards? D:

^ He just wanted to get into the record books, give Howard a break.

I had a friend who stood in the Plaza de Colon during the game.

The referee sucked. The theatrics on both teams were horrible.

The ref may have exagerated in few cards, but still, most of those were deserved. It was, no doubts a violent game.
The referee just a bit of advantage of that to get into Guinness.

But, if you consider that he should have handed a couple red ones, and a yellow card for sneidjer in the first half, you can almost say he went easy on the cards

The ref wasn’t as bad as you guys claim. The Dutch were ankle hunting all game. The kung-fu kick should have easily been a red - his foot was nowhere near the ball.

Listen - if you know soccer, you know that any sliding tackle that gets anything other than air or ball (eg: ankle, foot, leg) is going to be a yellow. Tell the Dutch to stop making stupid tackles and maybe we could have had less cards.

Ohh I had totally forgotten the kung fu kick!! That was RIDICULOUS. The guy should have been expelled. It was a big mistake of the referee

2006 we had a headbutt. 2010 a kick to the chest.

John Harkes sounds like a woman. And that just might be the least annoying thing about him. Tyler and Ekoku were the best soccer commentators I’ve ever heard on American TV.

If no commentary is good commentary to you (AKA basically mute) then I would understand why you think Tyler and Ekoku are the best. I’d also imagine you hate Joe Buck who doesn’t stop talking in the baseball games he does.

I may or may not have changed my profile picture on facebook to Gerard Piqu

Joe Buck is terrible. He makes Tim McCarver look like a moron, when Tim McCarver is nowhere near as smart as a moron.

I can’t believe those two buffoons are ever allowed to visit press boxes that Vin Scully has sat in, let alone actually calling games on national TV.
