We already started one a few pages back, but it died. Look up the format and post yours.

hmm, stats.
i personally prefer not to make myself more nervous about yale than i already am. seeing how amazing you all are kind of dashes my hopes. lol.

most of us aren’t THAT amazing. some of us are, which makes me sad, coz they have a much better chance than i do at getting in.

We’re all amazing in our own ways! =D

So I stayed over at Yale (Saybrook, and then TD) this past weekend. and it was awesome. and now I’m 110% sure of applying SCEA there. Yay! :-)

I noticed that many of you mentioned the Nat Merit essay. I’m a little overwhelmed; do they really expect to talk about EVERYTHING (personal characteristics, accomplishments, primary interests, plans, AND goals) in under 500 words? Is this like a straightforward essay or should it be… ummm…interesting, like a college essay? My packet is due to my counselor on Monday, and I am in dire need or some guidance… any advice? Thanks!!!

I just turned mine in last week. I had to write an essay for another college on what my future academic plans and career goals were, and I ended up writing it in such a way that it kind of talked about my personal characteristics too. So I figure I’ve got the topic at least mostly covered. It’s broad on purpose so that you can really do whatever you want. I wouldn’t worry too much about it… from what I’ve heard, all you have to do is complete the application in order to advance to finalist. Best of luck.

So how are those apps coming, everyone!?

um, can we not discuss that?
everyone at their own pace…;-)

I’ll tell you when I get started.;)

So how is everyone doing? Applications are due in about 3 weeks, whew! I have to finish the 2nd required essay, and then I’m done! I think I know what I’m going to write about.
As I was finishing the “Why Yale?” question yesterday I realized how special Yale really is. I discovered new reasons why I really want to go there, beyond “it’s Yale” and “Yale is cool.” The Yale Humanities major and its concentrations have no equivalent anywhere. It’s something I can imagine being interested in for 4 years. That’s not easy!

I found the “why yale?” section really hard, not becuase i didn’t have enough to say… but becuase I had too much to say! How did u guys fit it into only 50 words?!

Yale is amazing, guys.
You’ll experience it when you get there…
and I hope all of you do.
Stay focused!

i also just have the second essay left to write, then itll be in the mail, or rather the internet, and then well all just have to try to relax while we anxiously await our results. i dont do relaxing very well though so this will probably be the most difficult task the admissions committee has put before us :)

littlelis, my why yale section was 54 words…i just listed the 5 reasons i want to go there. not too many details

My essays are done, except the “why yale”, which is nearly done. Transcripts and recs sent. Still have to send test scores and then of course my final app. Nervous!!

Damn you guys don’t procrastinate do you!!! I can’t wait to start writing those essays though…;)

I’m with you, EAD! I’m getting my recs and transcript in this week, then working on finalizing my essays in the next 2-3 weeks.

I had to ask for recs a few weeks ago. My teachers are really busy, and the recs need to be sent by the end of this month!
i got my transcript sent 2 weeks ago as well.
But you guys are way ahead of me on essays! And looking at your stats, theo, you’re in great shape!

Yeah, I was supposed to ask for my recs weeks ago, too, and the deadline for transcripts is this Wednesday, so I’m kinda pushing it. But I haven’t officially broken any deadlines yet, so I’m good. :)

And with Yale, there’s no such thing as great shape. Unless if it’s the shape of a bulldog dancing on your computer screen with the Yale fight song in the background.

(Post #5500! Ah, the little satisfactions in life.)

Hey guys!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I’m from Ohio, and I’ll be applying SCEA pretty soon too. Good luck to all of you.
