OK a friend of mine who is also applying SCEA to Yale is having some problems with his supplement. When he print previews it, his 50 words on Yale don’t show up anywhere, and it also takes out all of the spaces between his paragraphs on his essay. Is anyone else having this problem?

I suggested to him that, if it’s not working by tomorrow, he should call Yale’s office and ask what they would like him to do.

If he’s using a mac, the issue is that he’s opening the print preview in safari/preview. Have him try it in adobe photoshop. I did that and mine looked completely fine (i was having the same problems as your friend).

And about the ACT scores- can we be sure October scores will get there in time? I’m a little worried, to be perfectly honest. and the only other score i submitted was my april 06 ACT score (no writing).

“How long before I get in
Before it stops before I begin
How long before you decide or
Before I know what it feels like
Where to, where do I go?
If you never try then you’ll never know
How long do I have to climb
Up on the side of this mountain of mine”

Apparently the email confirmations take a long time–I submitted my online app last thursday, the 26th, and just got the confirmation email today. Don’t fret if you haven’t gotten it yet, as long as you submitted your app later than mine :)

(feels so good to be done! now…until 12/15…judgement day)

The Supplement is also found on the Common Application web site and must
be submitted by midnight October 31st (EST) if you would like to be
considered under the Early Agreement program.

This is the email I got when I submitted my common app the other night.

HOLY *** I’m so happy I submitted my application today since I seriously thought that you could still turn it in actually on November 1st as supposed to October 31st midnight. Thank god this is over!!!;)

Okay so is it politically correct to say you’re Asian if you’re Indian?

I kind of switch between the two, and talk about myself as Asian, but then talk about my Asian (as in Oriental) friends in terms of “you Asians.” I’m such an ABCD

I think I need some closure on this crucial issue.

Thank you!! Anyway, the term Asian is very broad and has recently been used primarily to refer to those in the Far East like Chinese/Japanese/Korean/Tiawanese etc. Indians and Pakistanis are ordinally referred to as Subcontinental Asians. Personally, I think it’s stupid that I can’t call myself an Asian anymore because India clearly is located in the middle of Asia last time I checked. Hey Koena, maybe when we go to Yale, we can start a revolution and reclaim our rightful identification.;)

Just submitted. I am nervous already because no one aside from myself read my essays or anything, and I wrote one of my 500s about an hour ago. I guess we’ll see how it turns out in six weeks?

yay! I submitted on Sunday. Go us! When do we find out the verdict? (I kind of almost don’t want to know, because it will hurt when they tell me they don’t want me)
