Official Yale 2011 Scea Thread

Ah too bad potus is a bit faster than me. But good call anyway. Hah! Love all you guys SO MUCH.

I think someone should make a decision on who gets to start the “Official Yale SCEA 2011 Decisions Thread” early, so that there aren’t 3 different threads that get made.
? Just an idea. I hate when there are two “Official October SAT Scores Thread” …how can they both be official, eh?

haha sorry about that “irregardless” business. I know it’s used as a word, it’s just one of my many grammar-associated pet peeves. I definitely have about 15 more essays to write… but there’s always next weekend. and the weekend after that. I specialize in procrastinating.

not a problem

I’m actually very close to finishing… Yay! I’ll probably add like 3 more schools when I get my rejection though so probably I’m not as finished as I’d like to think…

On another note, I’d like to say that this is now the only thread in the Yale forum that I check. There are always like 10 bold new threads but they all seem to be an influx of “Chances” threads with which I’m fed up… Any thoughts or comisserations?

Koena–not that I’ve ever been to China, but from what I’ve heard from people who have moved to North America recently from China, you’re right. My mother lived in Tornto for a year and one of her co-workers had just moved there from China (his family didn’t move with him) and from what he told us about the country, it seemed very efficient and beautiful. He’s an amazing character. I forgot where exactly in China he used to live.

good luck with that…

crap, wait i still don’t understand, did they give you a reason why it is delayed?

Sirius,

I’ve only finished my Cornell app so far… yes! I finished the yale one about ten hours before it was due.

Oh boy kwi.
Sucks doesn’t it?
I am such a terrible procrastinator, I just can’t help it at all.

Out of 13, I’m done with 4 and half done with the other 9.

Plus 3 scholarship apps that are due this Friday which I haven’t started.

Just reading over my yale supp. essay to send it in for another app…this is probably me being anal, but if you forget to insert a really subtle quotation mark in your essay, how bad is that? Will they even pick up on it? I’ve had 3 english teachers read it and no one did.

You already sent it in, so whatever. But just to make you feel better, I am pretty sure that one little mark will not make or break your essay.

oh wow you guys are all pretty far ahead. I had planned to do 9 apps total.
I’ve done Yale and that’s about it…my next one is due Friday… and I think I’m cutting down to 6 apps total because there’s no time left.

I’m actually surprised by how quickly I’ve gotten through apps. I’m not yet finished with them, but I’m definitely in the home stretch: Yale, Penn, NYU, Columbia, Northeastern sent. BU and Emerson will be sent by sometime after the eighth of December (after I’ve had my next app prep class). Then it’s BC, Harvard, Franklin, and Northwestern.

O.o

18 days – I can’t take it!!

Application prep class?
What exactly to you do there? (sorry, i’m not familiar with this, just curious  )

I’m almost done with all of my applications; I only have 2.5/14 left to do. Hopefully in 18 days I won’t have to care about the rest of my applications, though!

I know it’s a little late, but my essay topics are:

Common App: How my innate curiosity has led me to try things completely different from each other so that I can experience the world to its fullest

Yale: My quest to “re-learn” my Cuban culture and how I’m working to help the people oppressed on the island so that I may make my own contribution to the future of Cuba

The people that read the essays said that they were pretty good, so hopefully Yale will think the same.

By Franklin do you mean Olin?

haha, im curious too sirius

I have to complete 12 applications total. I finished my top 6 easily. 4 colleges remain, none of which I really want to go to at all. Then there are 2 scholarship applications. I don’t want either scholarship anymore, now that I’ve realized what my top 6 are. 6 colleges seems so reasonable, I don’t know why I didn’t just cut off the other 4 colleges and make the whole process so much easier on myself.
Oh, now I remember why. My parents.
