Official Yale Class of 2014 SCEA Results Thread

LOL parents immigrated from Ethiopia, yet grew up in Japan. Nice.

yeah rents immigrated to america about twenty years ago then moved to japan when i was born. then we moved back when i was eight and have done a lot of moving around here. yeah its pretty complicated but interesting at the same time; i’ve definitely had a different life if you know what i mean

^hard to believe you were straight out rejected though. makes no logical sense

Ouch, Yale’s applicant pool seems REALLY competitive this year. (I applied RD so we’ll see in March…) Congratulations to those who were accepted - you guys really deserve it!

I’m sorry to those who were deferred/rejected, I don’t understand it either. You guys are really qualified though, so wherever you go, you’ll most definitely do amazing things! =)

(Ugh, sorry if that last sentence sounded like a college reject/deferred letter. That’s really the way I speak, though.)

Some of you are far too credulous.

habesha is so clearly a ■■■■■ that thinking otherwise would just be stupid. Everything about “his” (quotations necessary as “he” is not a real person) profile just reeks of ■■■■■.

i sincerely hope so. because i actually am a first-generation ethiopian with similar stats[lower gpa and sat score] applying next year! If he’s for real, that’s really off-putting…

Sorry for adding to the non-decision junk here (oh the irony!), but … why is there so much more non-decision junk than for all other schools’ EA threads?

yale likes having lots of its applicants in purgatory yayyyyyy fun

For those accepted, were your commonapp essays over 500 words? If so, how much over?

Haha… i just checked and mine was 894 words… oops. (however, my yale supp essay was around 500 words)
But I was accepted anyway! =)

Mine is in the 400’s, and the supplement is in the 300’s. Because the admission officer at the info session said that the essay should be only 1 or 2 pages. I think they prefer succinctness.

mine was like 400 each and i got deferred heh

brevity is the soul of all wit!
