i have trouble believing results threads nowadays due to the large amount of fake posts, late posts and trollers…taking everything with a grain of salt

^your info box is stretchy -.-

^^ And long.

awww shucks =[
it wasn’t stretchy earlier

I just skimmed through this thread, and I’m as clueless as when I started. This is ridiculous.

Almost everyone has good test scores
Almost everyone has a good gpa/class rank
Almost everyone says they have passion through ECs and Essays

But almost everyone was not accepted.

spiralcloud: Almost all applicants to Yale have good test scores, good GPAs and class ranks, and passion. People underestimate how important it is to have interesting and extremely well-written essays. ECs and volunteer work separate applicants from the rest of the pack as well.

I agree, essays are a HUGE part of getting in. So are recommendations, too, although you don’t have as much control over that.

Just my personal perspective: I don’t necessarily think I’m smarter than or more qualified than the other 100000 people who applied early, but it’s all about getting yourself through to the admissions officers, about being more than just a piece of paper. HUMOR in essays helps a TON, if you can pull it off well. And it’s more important to have breadth than depth in ECs: pick a few activities you love and adore, and pour your heart and soul into them with awards, leadership, etc. Together, the entire package is what will set you apart from other applicants.

But you guys know all this already XP

omg i feel so bad. all these people with 2400’s on their SAT’s and wonderful resumes didnt get in and I did. I suddenly feel extremely undeserving. This thread is a huge self-esteem-drainer~! :'(

don’t feel that way! 1) the majority of these people were deferred, and have an AMAZING shot in the RD round and 2) yale obviously saw something in you. HOW DARE YOU CRITICIZE THE GREAT ADCOMS?! :P

no but seriously. good job. :D

lol an “AMAZING” shot? I sure hope so…
