@jym626 I guess that what I hated about LITB was indeed embarrassment humor. I remember cringing as Beaver got into embarrassing, humiliating situations. I also hate The Three Stooges. I never liked the Roadrunner, either. In fact, the only cartoons I remember really, really liking as a kid were Rocky and Bullwinkle and Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

As an adult, I like Adventure Time. :)

I’m beginning to suspect that I was a weird kid. (I’ve never liked comic books, either.)

I’m offended that I’m not offended. I have been disenfranchised by not being offended. It is my right to be offended. Someone is not doing their moral duty!

S all male high school had an annual ‘walk a mile in her shoes’ fund raiser. The guys would wear high heels (well, assuming they could find some in their size). How offensive!!!

LOL! Yes, we must by all means make sure we never serve bratwürst and beer in the same dining hall. It invokes the terrible stereotype of lederhosen and white knee socks. This in turn can damage one’s appetite…which will outrage those with eating disorders.

"I’m thinking of the photos of these events that appear everywhere on social media. There’s all kinds of ways that this well-intentioned event could be portrayed as a bunch of insensitive rich kids. "

What if they are a bunch of rich kids? Seriously. Are rich kids not allowed to do fun stuff, ever? Are their activities supposed to be more circumscribed than anyone else’s?

Heck, what if a bunch of rich kids want to fly to Europe first class over spring break (or whatever) and post their pictures on FB? More power to them.

I have no sweeping opinions about fraternities or rich WASPs, although straight people really bug me, especially when they wear orange. I can’t tell from these posts who was in charge of making the decision to pull the event. Is it overreacting? Maybe.

The sorority/fraternity decided to pull it. Not the administration.

But there is a troubling tendency on campuses of “if something bothers me, no one should do it.” This philanthropy wouldn’t really involve anyone who didn’t choose to be involved. Like most Greek activities, they are of little interest or concern to those who aren’t.

Last spring, Dartmouth had to cancel “Phiesta Day,” which from everything I have read, has just been a get together April day outside and eating Mexican food in the sun, while raising $ for the local cardiac programs. (The term Phiesta is also used by its national greek body.)

?? Did you mean to write something else? Why do straight people “really bug” you…ESPECIALLY when they wear orange? Do you prefer that straight people wear a certain color palette, while gay folks should wear another? lol

Well, Puzzagirl, I am outraged and offended as well, because I just bought a pair of orange pumps and a gorgeous orange blazer, and I think I look good in orange. ;)

Would a typo be offensive to grammar police? :)
