What are my chances?
I am also looking foward to apply for the Morrill Scholarship (african-american male).
I have a very basic question which I can’t seem to find the answer for. Does OSU superscore the SAT? I know official scores need to be requested. Thank you.
It doesn’t superscore, from the chatbot response on the admissions page:
“When considering students for admission, scholarships, or Honors and Scholars selection, we consider the best official composite / combined score from a single test administration. Ohio State does not mix sub-scores from multiple tests or adjust scholarship values for higher test scores submitted after the scholarship’s published deadline.”
Pretty smart chatbot considering I asked if Ohio State superstores
GPA, Rank, and Test Scores
AP physics 1: 5 score
AP psychology: 5 score
AP calculus BC: 5 score
Extracurriculars

I am an international student, ohio is my dream university, what is y chance if I choose CS major?
My D wants to apply to Ohio State in EA wth Nov 1 deadline. We want to send the SAT scores, but have not yet requested from Collegeboard. if I request that on 20th October and if the scores dont get received by the university by Nov 1, can you help clarify what happens. Will they still consider the application without the scores, or they will hold the application (but still for EA ) till the scores comes ? I am worried about the too close deadline for Scores to be received. thanks. please help
Yes. At Ohio State all materials need to be in by the 11/1 deadline in order to be considered EA. CollegeBoard takes up to 2 full weeks to send scores. So if you are submitting, you should pay the rush fee to get them in. And then call and stay on them. Ohio also takes a little longer to update their portal than some others. So get it all in asap and stay on top of it. Good luck!
Also, if materials don’t get there for 11/1, they get pushed into the regular decision pool which is a longer timeline and more competitive at that point because some EA decisions have already been made.
I plan to rush order first thing tomorrow on college board to send scores. Close to 11/1 if the scores have not been updated, can I call OsU and ask them to remove scores as dependency since it’s test optional ?
If your student is going TO, then there’s no need to submit from college board.
Is anyone having issues accessing the portal today? I am seeing a “This is not a valid time to access the system” error. Maybe a Sunday morning maintenance thing?
Quick update - website is working again.
Hello all. What are the prospects for an OOS (Illinois, Chicago NW Suburbs big public school) with a psychology major applying EA? D has a 3.71 UWGPA with a 4.53 WGPA. 6APs (including AP Psych this semester and AP Computer Science) and 7 Honors courses. Good rigor in courses. AP Calc A-B, AP English last two years. 4 year athlete with club leadership and pretty good community service. She is applying TO. I am a little concerned that no test scores would be an issue but she did not want to take them again. Thank you for any input.
Received an email asking for confirmation we applied to the right CS major (CSE vs CIS, which are in different schools) by Dec, 9. Maybe we will hear this month, but unlikely as we are OOS.
Another interesting thing. OSU gives salary estimates based on where you are placed for some of the majors. More schools should do this so that students get a realistic salary estimate based on their preferred placement location. Click on salary estimates.
I’ve seen on FB that EA should start being released tomorrow… anyone know if that includes OOS?
OOS is January 24th.
OOS only if you applied for certain scholarships, but most would be Jan 24.
Which scholarships? So if she did extra essays would that mean she might get her notification with the in-states? I forget exactly which scholarship she wrote an essay for for Ohio State but I remember her doing it. Thanks!
