Old threads coming up at the bottom of threads

Why are old threads now appearing at the bottom of threads (where there are usually 5-6 threads that are related to that current thread)? it used to be semi-related threads like if I was reading a thread about Christmas gifts 2024 there might be a list of other (recent) threads about shopping or Black Friday or something. Now it is threads for shopping in 2008. Football? Some threads from 2001 or 2016. Of course those threads should all be closed.
