Olin V/s Vanderbilt

Its a tough call …but will anyone wanna give me their two cents on which school shud be my pick.

Vanderbilt—$20000 per yr scholarship

Olin ----$12000 per yr scholarship.

keeping aside the scholarship factor. plz suggest which of these schools will help me in my job search in a finance group such as Goldman sachs,UBS etc… in the northeast.

which of these schools has a better reputation in the US and

which of these schools has a better program

Olin is completely free. Every student admitted gets a full scholarship, so I don’t know what your talking about.

I believe k12345 is talking about Olin school of business at WUStL, but I could be wrong.

Olin School OF Business At Washington University in St.louis.

which other olin are u taking about

He was talking about Frank’s Olin of Engineering.

Anyways, go to Vandy.

Go to WashU.

thank u kinglin. I am trying to weigh the program based on their reputation in the US. The money aspect is not the most imp parameter for consideration …its the reputation of the university and the MBA grad tht matters the most hence I am want everyones opinion since I am not from the US…

whch school accoring to U is better and MORE REPUTED

Econ at Vandy is strong.

Econ ? Econ means wht ?

kinglin i request tht u include a small reason in ur decision. tht would help me tremendously. i have just 48 hours to decide !!

Are you applying to grad schools or undergrad?

full time MBA

Then I’d switch my vote to Wash U.

really wow. so u thing washington university in St.louis(WUSTL) enjoys better reputation than VAnderbilt university in their MBA program … I wanna work for a finance group such as Goldman sachs, UBS etc… in the northeast hence i am trying hard to compare which of the two enjoys more prestige in the US for MBA grads… (it amts to me loosing $16000 in two yrs but thts worth it i believe)

is there a counsellar in here who can include his/her opinion based on my career goals and present situation(wht i am looking in a program for i.e quality and prestige of the college )

At the undergrad level, Vandy is strong in economics and I have friends interning at top companies. But the school doesn’t offer a business major and although Vandy has good name recognition – I don’t think business is its main strength (especially at the graduate level). Although rankings aren’t everything Wash U is ranked higher and probably has somewhat of a stronger focus. I think I would pick Wash U if I had the choice.

great, thank you college 2332… would anyone else plz like to include their opinion/…

WashU has a lot of fortune 500 companies right down the road.

 1. Anheuser-Busch
 2. Emerson Electric
 3. May Department Stores
 4. Monsanto
 5. Charter (down with charter)
 6. Ameren
 7. Graybar Electric

But from what I understand is that your going for Economics? If you are (as am I) we have some decent financial firms based in St. Louis. Those being Edward Jones, AG Edwards, and Scottrade.

WashU has a lot of nice attractions within minutes. Forest park (bigger than central park NYC) is right in front of the campus. The loop is minutes away, and if you want some great food, you’ll aways have the hill. The economics department, if I can remember correct has some nobel prize winners? The campus is pretty, dorms are the best I’ve yet to see, and the food isn’t bad. If your interested in Lacrosse, the team is amazing.

All in all, WashU offers you an amazing education with a nice social life. While Vandy is well known nationally, it hasn’t been increasing it’s national reputation nearly as well as the emerging WashU.

I’m not trying to say Vandy is a bad school by any means, it’s just that I feel, based on what your looking for, WashU might be a better fit.

If one of your big deciding factors is straight up prestige, you could look to the US News where in the category of National Universities, WUSTL is #11, While Vanderbilt is #18. So not a huge difference, but every little bit matters in a decision i suppose.

I am not going for economics I am goin for Full time MBA…kidly include ur opinions…please i need it
