Olive Garden’s ‘pasta passes’ for sale on eBay for as much as $4,500

Folks can list things on eBay for whatever amount they want. It doesn’t mean they are selling for anywhere near that price. The highest price I see that has been paid in eBay is $399.

I’m figuring the Olive Garden execs are savvy enough to be making a profit off of this…even from the folks who eat 50+ meals.

Am I overestimating their savvy in the areas of marketing and maintaining profitability?

The profit made off of any appetizer and/or just a single glass of wine or beer probably pays for the cost of the pasta at each sitting.

There is no doubt in my mind that Olive Garden is coming out ahead in this deal, but that’s perfectly fine in my book.

<<< Holy cow, cobrat, do you have a cousin for every occasion or what?>>>

Lol…I have nearly 50 nieces and nephews…yikes…so people probably think I’m nutters when I say, “my niece/nephew is attending/attended (UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UC Boulder, USC, WashU, Stanford, Harvard, Tufts, Vandy, CSUF, CSULB, SLO, CPP, DePauw, Tulane, Carleton, Purdue, Iowa, Valpo, NYU, Butler, Wm&Mary, Indiana, UIUC, Ball St, UNC, UNC Ashville, FIDM, VMI, etc) blah blah blah.” If I add in my 25 sibs and sibs-in-laws…

@mom2collegekids You’re family could write their own first hand experience college guide!

Lol…and I just realized I forgot UCI, San Jose State, IUPUI, and Santa Clara.

^^How many actual cousins do you have?

Wait you have 25 siblings?

^Maybe that’s 13 siblings and 12 are married

No.

How many times do the words “Olive Garden” appear in this one thread on this one website alone?

If the food was as good as this promotion, they would not need to do the promotion!

Just for the fun of guessing, I’m guessing that she and her spouse have a combined total of 13 siblings, most of whom are married. Her spouse’s siblings’ children are her nieces and nephews too.

Olive Garden isn’t in the business of offering Michelin star quality Italian food. They are specifically targeting the mainstream segment, with prices geared towards the attracting the largest market possible. I think they do a pretty good job given that.

If the absolute highest quality food is what you are looking for, then I would agree there are better options out there.

$200 for a 14 week semester of food can make your education much more affordable. Free wifi too, I assume.

Yup!!!

Oh…and we got 4 pasta passes, but H and I can’t eat the pasta…so we’re going to eat the salad, get the meat on the side (it includes the meat), and pick out the OK foods in soups.

Last year we had the family pass.

I worked with a woman who was going to a family reunion on her mother’s side, and she said there were 60 first cousins. Her mother was one of 13, and my friend was one of 10. Then she said there were 50 first cousins on her father’s side too. What she was most shocked at was that her husband only had 4 first cousins total, and could I believe that? Well, I could because I only have 2. What!?!? How could that be? My father has one brother and he has 2 kids, my cousins. My mother was raised by and aunt and uncle and they are cousins to us too, and their kids are our second cousins, but I have two first cousins.

I’m sure she’s still not over the shock.

My spouse has only 3 first cousins, I have 29.

First cousins?? I have only a couple.

My husband has a bunch.

I didn’t know OG had a family pass as well.

I have one cousin and DH has none. I do, however, have about a dozen “step cousins.”

I have only a few cousins, but DH has a LOT. Not even sure how many, but I couldnt tell you where they went to school or what kind of work most of them do or did. I am able to recall their names, and thats an accomplishment.
