Olympics 2018

Just watching the women’s Nordic replay again. That is the most “homer” announcer cheering ever. The guy is a coach from Duluth who has known Jessie for years, he said he couldn’t help it.

@intparent , I agree. The announcer was very enthusiastic and I loved it!

Tara and Johnny have done a great job!

He had 13 suitcases and she had 9. He said she needed fewer because her dresses are like handkerchiefs and take no room.

@doschicos I heard that Johnny had 13 suitcases and Tara had 9

I assume they are charging their luggage fees to NBC.

Is it just me, or did the USA athletes have more phones and took more selfies than the athletes friends m other countries?

The K Pop music is interesting. I’m glad to see that boy bands aren’t confined to the U.S. and England.

K Pop is HUGE internationally.

One of my editing clients writes about Asian popular culture, and it was fun to see an example of one of her topics.

Boy that was trippy!

My son stood in line for 8 hours for tickets to a K-Pop concert here in New York, and that was 4 years ago. It has a niche following.

All done. I am sad. :frowning:

My apologies, this is my first checkin for this thread.

I’m not a big Winter Olympics fan, prefer the summer games far far better. A couple quick observations. I’m not a big hockey fan, but the women’s Canada-US hockey gold medal game was the best hockey game that I’ve seen. And Curling is not sport.

Bet you couldn’t beat any of those curlers. If it isn’t a sport, then neither are bowling or billiards (curling reminds me of a combo of those). I think it is a sport.

It’s as much of a sport as golf, archery, or shooting, IMO.

2022 - see you in Beijing! Loved the skating pandas.

I like to think Beijing 2022 might be a good Olympics to attend. You always hear horror stories about transportation to venues at the games. Maybe because they hosted recently, Beijing will have that fairly well sorted out. Now I just need to win the lottery to afford to go…

2018 Games - brought to you by Microsoft, Google, and Toyota. While Coke, Mickey D, and others still had their prime time, I noticed that there was much less junk food advertising than in the past. Or was it just my wishful thinking?

And that still wouldn’t make it a sport IMO. It’s shuffleboard on ice I read up on it a little, up until the last Olympics in 2014, most curlers didn’t do any cardio or strength training. Now for 2018, 2-3 days of cardio and 2-3 days of strength training is +/- what they do. They’ve now worked up to what an average human being should be doing for themselves. Again, just my observation(s) from the two weeks of watching the Winter Olympics.

As I said, I prefer watching the Summer Games with gymnastics, swimming, track and field, basketball, soccer, etc.
