Olympics 2018

We won’t see the ice dancing today! I guess I need to stop reading this…

Those Russian women skaters are fabulous!

Maya and Alex are wonderful skaters but… they need a better coach. The Italians and the Russians were great story tellers, and the story was lacking here even with Coldplay in the background. :frowning:

I really liked it.

The Canadians are top notch!! Holy cow. Great story and impeccable skating.

Scott & Tessa are my favorites, but I don’t love the first half of their long program. But I like the 2nd half.

Such a beautiful performance! Perfection even though the Canadians had clinched the gold before the ice dancers took the ice. Ice dancing will miss these two!

I thought Coldplay was fine, I actually think the problem is that as brother and sister anything sexual is kind of icky.

Thanks for clarifying the k tape. I wondered if it was a bruise or something.https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2018/02/12/no-mirai-nagasu-does-not-have-a-giant-usa-tattoo-on-her-inner-thigh/?utm_term=.c6f9a94eb2de

I DID see the ice dancing and thought it was fabulous! Loved the American team…but OH those Canadians so deserved the gold!

The conditions for the womens’ ski jumping are so bad. Wind and snow, and the volunteers are blowing the snow out of the tracks with leaf blowers! Bravo to these women!

I saw an interview they gave where Alex said their greatest challenge was finding a story to tell that was suitable for siblings because they couldn’t pull off the typical ice dancing love story.

I don’t understand what FIS is thinking. They let the Women’s Slopestyle event run in highly hazardous conditions with winds gusting at 30 mph. 41/50 riders fell. The winners were those lucky enough to not have huge gusts, and even then, they had to water down their rides tremendously.

This is already a high risk event. Running it in these kinds of conditions is downright negligent.

Compare that to what they did for skiing - they did postpone the women’s GS because of high winds and the same for men’s downhill.

FIS being the supervising federation for X sports at the Olympics is not a good thing.

@arabrab But who else would it be? Slopestyle doesn’t fall under the umbrella of the IFSA. Blame the technical delegate, not the organization, because the TD is the one responsible for making that call. Plus, it wasn’t the officials who made the call for the GS–it was the lift operators. Derailment is generally not desirable.

“Rippon certainly should have had higher artistic marks.”

I call shenanigans on those component scores. Rippon smashed Kolyada on artistry and delivery. How can anyone be so stiff and soulless skating to Elvis?

@bookworm I hope she will come through safely. They have so much courage to do those moves.

Where are my curling people? I have the build for it lol.

Chloe Kim is such fun to watch. Love her story and her parents. Fingers crossed for two more great runs.
