Anyone watching the opening of the Olympics? What do you think? So far ok but not too interesting.
I am. :-h
I think its ok so far. Visuals are ok but I love Brazilian musicians and rhythms.
Just an FYI, there is already an olympic thread ![]()
I don’t get modern dance or all the history lesson cirque de soleil-ness of all the opening ceremonies…just bring out the athletes and light the torch. I keep thinking squidward doing interpretive dance on spongebob. Like the beginning seems brought to you by jiffy pop or reynolds wrap…now, we get a science lesson…sigh.
Ok,thanks. As usual I am not totally up on what’s on thread because I do not read every
day. But this is about the opening. Maybe not a conflict or redundant thread?
Bring on the samba dancing!
I second what amandakayak said above!
The new technology makes it fun for TV
Sorry I didn’t mean they should be merged or anything, I was just letting people know that there is an ongoing conversation if anyone wanted to join
Some of the commercials have been as good as the Super Bowl ads.
I am enjoying the program. Lots of excitement when Giselle entered the arena. It is always interesting to see the different concepts each country that hosts comes up with.
I love the smiles as the athletes are walking in. Lots of happiness.
The Bolivian male athlete crying emotionally walking in was heartwarming.
Here comes the US team
I always tear up when they walk in.
The huge Polo pony on the outfits is a little obnoxious.
Well, given how much flak they got one year for uniforms that were made in China, not the US, they are apparently no taking any chances.
The 2012 uniformswere made by Ralph Lauren/Polo that year as well, just not manufactured in the USA. But, I guess we like things YUGE these days so the pony symbol is YUGE.
Besides the US team, my highlight so far (watching delayed on dvr…) is seeing my guy, NADAL!!! So happy!
For amusement, a look back at 60 years of US outfits.

I hate their outfits this year (I don’t know why we’re hung up on the white pant thing… anyone?). I never even knew about the cowboy hat era.
