Oh, I wasn’t picking on you, @romanigypsyeyes , but there are many who don’t know that.
@Creekland All of NBC’s prime time coverage will be delayed, and packaged with interviews and those stupid profile segments. You also won’t see all of the competitors, just the marquee athletes and Americans. They decided decades ago that women control the remote for the Olympics and women either aren’t interested or can’t understand this as a sporting event, so they cover it as a drama.
If you watch the other channels, though, it is covered as a sporting event without all of the fluff.
Also, for anyone who is lucky enough to get Canadian Broadcast, go there. It’s much better and I believe I read that it’s going to be live.
@LasMa - Yes, that’s my beef. NBC has been that way for many Olympics now and it boggles my mind that they get away with it. For the last 3-4 Olympics (winter and summer), we’ve opted to go British mostly, Canadian or French on occasion. Anyone in the states who can watch it via computer can do so by subscribing for a month to Tunnel Bear (cost is $8). It’s well worth it. One can generally watch anything live (or delayed if it fits the schedule better) and see ALL competitors. It makes it FAR more fun IMO.
Of course, I tend also to pay attention to who sponsored the Olympics through NBC and quit buying anything from them if I do… my own personal little statement… that means nothing to those corporations, I’m sure, but gives me a little satisfaction for what we have to do just to be part of the “normal” developed world.
