OMG Life is so Hard and Complicated!!!

Eggs, milk, some flower, lots of cherries, and a little bit of sugar (which I think can be cut at least in half). Sounds like a good father’s day breakfast dish! Thanks for sharing.

I need to get some sorbet first, then I can try the Syrah recipe!

I just love cherries. Especially Rainier cherries, they are the best! I could just eat them all day.

Did not find any lemon sorbet at our Target and decided that I did not want to go across the street to the grocery store. So I ended up buying some Talenti raspberry sorbet. Have a bottle of syrah chilling in the fridge for the mixing experiment tomorrow! Got eggs and milk for our clafouti breakfast, too. Now I need to keep my hands out of the cherries, or I soon will have none left for the clafouti!

Here is my first report: nottelling’s clafouti was a huge hit! I cut the sugar all the way down to about 1/4 of what the recipe asked for, and used frozen, pitted cherries I had bought at Costco and completely forgotten about!

(Have not made the Syrah sorbet yet, but stay tuned… )

Does anyone else like Ben and Jerry’s Hazed and Confused ice cream? I mix almonds with it. It’s my new favorite. The Hazed is hazelnut. Yum.

Update: made the “Syrah sorbet” using the Talenti raspberry sorbet and some leftover Predator wine (which is mostly zin, I believe). It came out a little watery because I did not use a chilled bowl and did not chill the wine, but it was very tasty. Not too sweet, not too booze-y. I think this dessert needs to go back in the freezer for a little while to make it firmer prior to serving.

Thanks for the update! I am going to give it a try! Or maybe I’ll just leave out the sorbet and have a nice glass of syrah. That sounds pretty good right now!

Thanks to this thread, I now own a cherry pitter. Clafouti to follow!

This thread reminds me to go look at my French cookbooks. Clafouti and galette have been disappearing from my vocabulary.

“Claufouti” and “galette” sound so much better than “puffy pancake” and “lazy man’s free-form pie.”
