*4 years of baseball, 4 years of football, NHS junior and senior year, jobs during summers, fair number of community service hours, summer baseball, select baseball, baseball and football captain, have won leadership/sportsmanship awards for sports 4 times, hmmm thats about all i can think of for now or all that is important.

My brother currently attends UVA and plays baseball there (if that helps). Also, I will have good reccomendations from members of the Engineering board and other good alumni friends. I’ll have an interview with Dean Aylor this summer…hopefully that goes well.

Thanks for any responses. I hate these threads too…sorry if it annoyed you.

yea i think you have a good shot

howd u get an interview with the dean? yeah ur looking pretty good. Maybe raise your SAT by 50 points?

Through a neighbor on the engineering board…I’m hoping he likes me. I’ve taken the SAT 2 times and I’ve decided that taking it a 3rd time is not worth the very few points I could gain. I’m taking the ACT again though…I didn’t really prep for it the first time I took it so hopefully after some prep this month I can do better on it in June. If not, I’m not too worried I guess. Would a 31 still put me in good shape for UVA engineering or would I need a 32 or so to have a good shot?

My s had a 32 ACT score and was waitlisted. I would take it again.

trey, its not all about scores. A 32 is 99%ile, its not going t put you at any disadvantage. Would a 36 be better? Sure, but they are not going to take someone with a 33/34 over someone with a 31/32 simply because of the act score, they will base their decision on something else. I am certain there were other factors involved in your sons waitlisting.

Any other thoughts/opinions before I forget about this thread?

Hmmmm let me think.

No.

jlamp~ up your cr. reading SAT, especially since you’re OOS. looking pretty good, tho. good luck!

You have pretty good stats so I think you have a good shot. Yeah I don’t think it’s worth taking the SAT for the third time. I got a 620 on my math the first time I took it, and a 640 the second time. But my cr jumped 200 points though, so that made a big difference. But you’re still not sure if you’ll score better.

Good luck on your SATIIs and you should be sure to do well on the essays.
