Online AP Calculus course

Hey,

Are there any good online AP calculus courses which also consider financial aid? I am not particularly wealthy and wouldn’t be able to afford a $1000 online course.

What are my options?

JHU-CTY Distance Education will give you financial aid. They offer both AB and BC.

[Financial aid.](http://cty.jhu.edu/financial/index.html)
[Calculus AB.](http://cty.jhu.edu/cde/math/courses/t-calculus-ab.html)
[Calculus BC.](http://cty.jhu.edu/cde/math/courses/t-calculus-bc.html)

Good luck.

I heard from an AP Calc teacher at my school, the percentage rate of students who fail the online course is above seventy percent.

CTY is really good with financial aid. I’m planning on taking AP Bio through distance education this year, but I got $2,100 off of the CTY summer programs I attended both this year and last year.

CTY seems excellent, though I’d have to wait until like a month after the October SATs so I can get scores back, with a higher Math score, because my current PSATs or SAT math scores probably wouldn’t cut it for CTY.

And also, I have never completed a year of Precalculus… so would CTY still allow me to take Calculus? I am currently attempting to self study precalculus and I am sure I can do it before November.

–

Are there any other options or programs I should consider?

Requirements for both SAT/PSAT scores and prerequisites are on the CTY website. :)

Yes, it will. :stuck_out_tongue: I was able to take BC Calculus with just Algebra II. I don’t think they really check the prerequisites.

Do you have any other standardized testing scores? I was able to bypass the SAT requirement with an SSAT scores. Check the testing score prerequisites before you decide to take the SAT again for the purpose of CTY.

As far as I know, JHU also offers another test (the name escapes me, but I’m sure you can find information on their website) that can be taken online and bypassed for the SAT.
