It has come to my attention that these organizations act as repositories of student college attendance information. Do any Canadians have more insight into the private information these collect and how they are used?
They seem quite intrusive. The OUAC collects admissions information from all applicants to Ontario schools and submits information to the Ontario Ministry of Education.
I am less familiar with the BC system.

What impact do these organizations have on a student wanting to keep his/her post-secondary school information (enrollment, graduation history, etc.) private?

CBits is correct, Nampa. The reality is that if you want to apply to any Ontario university, you must do it through OUAC. You seem very worried about what appears would be some very innocuous information ‘getting out’. It would probably be wise to deal with those specific issues and resolve them than attempting to orchestrate a way in which to keep them private. This will likely be important for someone who will have to go through the visa application process, and who has any hopes of eventually applying for permanent residency, in addition to any type of professional licensing. If you think it’s difficult dealing with academia, just wait until you’re confronted with the immigration process.
