OOS Student application for Chemical Engineering

Hi,
I am an out of state candidate, interested in undergraduate in Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley. I found the website called “My UC Application” with the address:

https://admissions.universityofcalifornia.edu/applicant/login.htm</a>

Is it the same site for OOS applicants also ? I tried to contact the UC Application Center however, they are closed until Monday, and I like to start filling out the forms today.

Also is there a separate/additional application for the college of Chemistry ?

Could any one familiar with OOS application adivse me.

Thanks…

That’s the application everyone uses to apply to the UCs. You are good to go.

Seems UC Berkeley does not require teachers’ recommendations as I could find recommendations requirements anywhere in the FAQ and Admission tips.

Is that true ?

That’s correct. Even if you send recommendations, they won’t read them. Good luck! I’m applying for the same! :)

^ Thank you. At least one pain is gone. Now the personal statements to write…

For College of Chemistry, it is imperative that you discuss your interest in chemistry for your personal statement. None of that “my family is great” or “my community is great” stuff.

^disagree. My essays were about 1. some random personal stuff 2. the difficulty of trying to write an abstract for research. The second was chemistry-related but certainly didn’t discuss my interest in it.

^ I tend to agree.

I feel the Personal Statement 1 relates to your up-brining environment that shaped you, how you took the available opportunities to develop yourself, etc., rather than you can relate to the planned field of study.

Personal Statement 2 can be made somewhat related to your interested field…

I’m just repeating what the admissions office keeps saying year after year after year. The admissions office may make exceptions and admit whoever they want, but I must advise students to follow guidelines put forth by the admissions office; anything short of that would be irresponsible.
