Anyone else watch this?? I watched the entire season over the weekend, and it did not disappoint! One of the best shows on Netflix. It is raw and raunchy as all get out, but very well written.

Ive watched the first of the new season, but we are going out of town this weekend and next, so I am saving it to watch on my ipad incase of insomnia or when H is watching one of those “shooting bears from a monster truck while ice fishing” shows. ( we dont have cable & he is fascinated with them whenever we do.)

I really think we need more shows with women on television. ( that arent about fashion/trying to get a boy/girlfriend/cooking.
I know there are shows * with * strong female characters, ( thank you Leslie Knope), but how many shows only have female characters that are tangential to the story? So. Many.
Some shows the only female actor is as a corpse.
Its too bad they killed off Mags Bennett on Justified. ( & I have Joelle Carters storyline & Pipers mixed up in my mind)

I watched the first couple of episodes on Netflix and it did disappoint - it was too raw and raunchy even for me. In addition, I briefly had a job where I came in contact with the correctional system, and nothing about this show rang true to me at al.

I’ve gotten through 5 episodes of the second season–watching one a night, so they last! I adore the show–so original, so funny and tragic simultaneously, and such marvelous performances by all these female actors we wouldn’t otherwise get to see in such significant roles. And then of course there’s my crush on the adorable, but dopey, Corrections Officer Bennett…The raunch factor means I have to watch it by myself. My D is also a fan, but when she was recently home for a few weeks, we were in agreement that we couldn’t be in the same room when it was on. Silly, I guess, but it works for us.

Yes, the show is raw and raunchy and my husband and I love it! We haven’t had time to start the new season yet, but plan to do so this weekend. DD said she binge-watched the entire season recently.

I love seeing the backstory on each character and the contrast and similarities between their prison life and civilian life. And kudos to the writers and actors for making the characters sympathetic and 3-dimensional, despite some pretty awful behavior.
The addition of Vee this season has really added a whole new dimension to the show.

It will be interesting to see how many seasons they can drag it out. The real life Piper just served about a year. I am near the end of Season 2 and she recently told another character she had 8 months left. So perhaps they can do 4 to 6 seasons on Neftlix!

So who are your favs/dislikes? I like Tastee, and the other big girl that hangs out with her. I dont like Fig,(warden), nor Piper, she is an unsympathetic character for me. I absolutely dont like Vee, such a manipulator. I am torn on Red. I like the Hispanic woman that runs the kitchen(her name escapes me)

I don’t really like Pipers character and while I like Larry’s father, I can’t stand Larry.
I like the other characters though, even pornstache became more human when he revealed his love for Daya.

I just binge-watched Season 2. Great season. Loved the insight into the background of the characters.

I’m trying to avoid spoilers, so I will just say that I loved Miss Rosa’s part, especially in the last episode.

And interestingly, I looked her up and discovered that the Barbara Rosenblat who plays Miss Rosa is indeed the BR whom I worship as the Goddess of Audiobooks! She is an amazing reader, adept at many voices. She’s done the works of Elizabeth Peters, Nevada Barr, and Sandra Scottoline, as well as Bridget Jones’ Diary, and many others. (I even listen to her recordings of authors I dislike, such as Diane Mott Davidson.
)

Having a major fangirl moment here. :)

We haven’t watched it yet but do plan to. It may be too raw/raunchy for me, but I’ve heard such great things about it that I’m keeping an open mind.
