When bin Laden’s corpse was laid out, one of the Navy SEALs was asked to stretch out next to it to compare heights. The SEAL was 6 feet tall. The body was several inches taller.</p>

<p>After the information was relayed to Obama, he turned to his advisers and said: “We donated a $60 million helicopter to this operation. Could we not afford to buy a tape measure?”

<p>My favorite part was Obama’s last line - to the effect that anyone who questions whether OBL deserved to be killed needs to have his head examined. I have no patience with those who are criticizing the government for “executing” OBL without trial. It would be one thing if he were in the US, where he could be arrested and jailed. This situation was very different. </p>

<p>Love the story, soccerguy. It reminds me of the low-tech method that pediatricians use to measure the height of babies - stretch the baby out on the table and make pencil marks on the paper at both ends.</p>

The deal was struck between the military leader General Pervez Musharraf and President George Bush after Bin Laden escaped US forces in the mountains of Tora Bora in late 2001, according to serving and retired Pakistani and US officials.</p>
