@Lindagaf I agree about Portman’s dress. I thought the dress was so unflattering in the front.
I always think Sigourney Weaver looks too matronly.
I thought Laura Dern’s dress was a miss.
@Leigh22 , I loved the green and though she was elegant, but I could see how it could be seen as matronly too.
Laura Dern reminded me a young girl trying too hard to look pretty for the 8th Grade Formal.
Tom and Lorenzo will be blogging all day with their Oscar dress opinions (always good for a little truthiness and some snark). They are huge fans of Janelle Monae’s dress.
Don’t know if I can link to their blog (as per the terms of service here), but just google Tom and Lorenzo.
Actually, the best thing about the Oscars last night was that my husband told me I look better than Laura Dern, even though I’m older than her. ?
I actually liked Laura Dern’s dress.
Was out to dinner late so only started the recording at 10:30 and I ff’d through a lot of it as I only care about the dresses. Haven’t watched it all yet.
Kristen Wigg and Diane Keaton top my worse list so far.
Don’t have a best list yet. I need to go watch the red carpet show first.
Billie Eilish must have been going for the ‘coronavirus protective gear’ look. All her outfit needed was the head mask to complete the look.
She wears masks a lot, I was surprised she wasn’t wearing one. Oversized clothes is her thing. I would expect nothing less!
I’d consider it a website not a blog. ![]()
@Leigh22 Have you ever seen Bobbie Thomas on the Today Show? She does a segment making changes to red carpet dresses. This morning she changed Laura Dern’s dress, new was navy and the black fringe length. It was beautiful!
Usually I like 5 - 10 dresses, this year Scarlett, Margot, Geena Davis and Zazie Beetz, Joker co-star, striking.

It’s a blog, so links not allowed
Website, blog - whatever it is, they’re giving Regina King’s dress the “Best of the Night” award. They’re much snarkier about Laura Dern’s dress - not a fan of the tassels (“One thing’s for sure; Laura Dern does not live with a cat.”)

I thought that dress looked familiar. BTW, she had her hair colored grey; her natural hair color still has more dark strands. But she looks great, and at 82, is entitled to dress however she pleases. ![]()
Sigourney Weaver is 70. I think she looks great!
Btw, I’m not certain, but was Billie Eilish wearing Chanel? https://www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/red-carpet-dresses/a30835918/oscars-2020-billie-eilish-chanel-suit/
Favorite Oscar Fashion Story was 10 year old Julia Butters (from Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood), who collaborated with Christian Siriano on her dream dress, even exchanging sketches. She then carried a turkey sandwich in her $2500 purse because she didn’t like the food at the ceremony!
Liked:
Florence Pugh (though it would have been even nicer in a different color)
Brie Larson
America Ferrera
Selma Hayek
Mindy Kaling
Margot Robbie (probably my absolute favorite)
Didn’t like:
Maya Rudolph (unflattering style and not a good color for her)
Kristen Wigg (seemed like she was just trying to stand out)
Renee Zellweger (nice style, but the color doesn’t work for her)
Saorise Ronan (I’ve seen her wear better dresses)
I also really liked Regina King’s dress. Very stylish and tasteful. Scarlett Johansson’s dress was also pretty, very nice and not over the top.
I also liked the dress that the woman who won the award for Best Score wore. She won for Joker…
And I liked Greta Gerwig’s dress too. Very pretty and unusual color.
My D liked the color of Idina Menzel’s dress…I have to agree as well. They big bow is kind of odd, but it’s a color that looks nice on her
