Other brands of frozen egg noodles

I was looking at a recipe for a crockpot chicken noodle soup that called for Reames frozen egg noodles. Apparently these are not sold anywhere within 100 miles of me. They look much more enticing (thicker and heartier) than the bags of dried egg noodles I can buy in the pasta section of the grocery store. Is anyone aware of any other brands of frozen egg noodles that might be more like the Reames brand?

The Reames brand is a thicker, almost doughy (but in a good way) frozen egg noodle. If you do a google search for “frozen egg noodles” and look at images you’ll see a couple other brands - none of which I have seen before! Reames is clearly the most common it seems.

You could visit the pasta maker thread and make your own!

Do you have a grandma’s egg noodles brand near you?

I’ll have to check for those.

Even though the Reames website said there were no retailers within 100 miles of me, I found them at my local Wal-Mart. Very excited to try them out.

I’m glad you found them! There really is no substitute! I’ve noticed stores tend to stock them around the holidays.

I’ve made The Pioneer Woman’s chicken and noodles with Reames - talk about comfort food!

Is your recipe online? If so, could you post a link?

This has nothing to do with anything, but I crossed the border from Canada over the weekend and the US border patrol specifically asked if I was bringing in any noodles of any kind. I wonder why?

We cross the border all the time and have never been asked about noodles!!!

Dunno…it was yesterday afternoon crossing from the Vancouver-area border back into Washington. The question caught me a bit off-guard as I do frequently buy ramen noodles, but no need to take up space in my luggage since I’m flying back out from SEA later this week. (I did buy a lot of Canadian maple syrup though lol). Maybe someone is making contaminated noodles out there?

Vancouver is a Mecca for pot lovers… and weed ramen is apparently a thing (no idea… so googled if noodles are among the so called edibles, yup). Even though pot is legal on both sides of the border you just crossed, transportation of weed products across that border is illegal and can get one in trouble.

Try making your own. You can dial in your own thickness that way. No need for freezer space for something so easy and quick to make.

I suspect the frozen is at least partly that this is cooked in a crockpot.

@chercheur This is the recipe. I haven’t tried it yet so can’t speak to how good it is but it certainly looks good and easy. https://www.eatingonadime.com/crockpot-chicken-noodle-soup/?fbclid=IwAR1QOvuWgHn1114dC45E9YCsdK2FUfo2AEfSYIali7bkaiOUD5XZfNukYfI
