*I’ve yet to meet an Indian eventhough I’ve met a lots of Bengali’s, Gujrati’s, Punjabi’s, Tamilians, Telgu’s etc.

India for that sake is not homogeneous at all.*

Agree- they don’t even speak the same language.

That seems true for some on the cc threads as well, ek :)

We missed the point of education when we thought that colleges or institutes are vocational training institutes.
It is a very narrow view in terms of an overall society. There are countries where you can get the technical education at the top university without any humanities subject knowledge. Such institutes can produce great engineers but not great citizens or human beings.

First and foremost goal of the college education is to provide the breadth of knowledge and then concentrate into the depth of a subject area of interest to the child.

I’ve met numerous engineers/doctors/STEM Phds that have gone into those major because of family pressure and are struggling not only with their careers but also with their life. They would have made a kiling as an actor, musician, TV reporter or an author instead they are stuck working in labs, companies without any passion.

So beware before you channel children into STEM when their real passion lies in Liberal Arts.

This was before the Elites admitted to having an “unconscious” bias against Asians, right? MITChris claims that the admit rates of Asians is higher than the general population, at least at MIT.

Well SAID POIH!

Ditto, menloparkmom. Looks like h*ll has officially frozen over!!! LOL!

I totally agree with Post #272!

And to think…I was just about to stop looking at this thread.

Is that really you POIH?
Your thinking certainly has evolved…

Lol, I was just thinking the same thing, menlo. Maybe wife has returned from long visit home with family. Welcome back!

Anyone popping any popcorn yet?

My views have never changed. I’ve always maintained children need to follow their passion. I’ve always maintained that children be brought up in a safe and liberal environment. They should be nurtured well and parent need to be open to their views.
In order to accomplish that I’ve maintained that parent should be responsible for their children education and should fund that and parent should not force children through religious education. It doesn’t mean I’m against religion as per but I maintain that children when become adult should pick their view point and follow it instead of brain washed by parent into a particular religion.

Well said.

Red or white meat?

Touch base with Woody, JYM.

<throws popcorn=“” at=“” the=“” screen=“” in=“” disappointment=“”></throws>

This is just like when you see a movie trailer where you get all excited about how great the movie’s gonna be…and then the real thing just fizzles out. Like “Cowboys and Aliens”.

Are you referring to Kosher or Halal?

I was planning to taking my son to it this weekend. Is it really that bad?

Re: post 293 -You’ve said that twice now, IP. No clue what you are talking about, but it sounds gross. Give it a rest. Robyrm’s posts about the rates (or subsitute another word of your choosing) of depression and suicide are most compelling, even if you’d rather ignore and banter about other stuff. No matter. Really. Good day.

No, I am asking red or white. If it is red meat, they are wise to avoid it. Clogs the arteries.

This is what Woody posted, JYM.

So the frequency of depression and suicide in young asians doesn’t bother you?
