Our responsibility as parents

The inanity of this thread is making ME consider suicide.

Intervention!

I just remember how much fitter Shatter was. Anyone know that when George Takei ran for some political seat in the LA area (speaking of Asians,) his opponent claimed he deserved addl free advertising airtime to counteract all the exposure Sulu got thru reruns.

Was there anything similar when Schwarzennegger or Reagan ran for office? Or Al Franken (or maybe there just aren’t that many reruns of old SNL episodes)?

patsmom, it’s like when the Hindenberg caught fire. Oh, the inanity! :D

It is not that no one would like to discuss the suicide rates of teens but I think your comparison across ethinicities is not fair to begin with.

The population of Asian American is ecnomically more skewed towards the top or the bottom than covering the whole spectrum. The skilled immigrants skewed towards the top while political asylum and illegals skewed to the bottom. While Caucasians American population in USA covers the whole spectrum.

So unless you have data for comparable population to begin with it is not possible to compare the suicide rates across the ethinicities in USA.

Same logic apply to African Americans and Latin Americans both of which are more skewed to the bottom to middle of the spectrum and in the highest spectrum (thanks to sports).

0 — 25 — 50 — 75 — 100

 • W — W — W — W —W-
 • A ----- A ---------- A --A-
 • L — L — L ----------- L-
 • B — B – B -------------B-

So, being middle class is a marker for teen suicide?

here we go again…asking questions just to antagonize others. Stop feeding the ■■■■■.

Thumper, what other logical conclusion can you draw from POIH’s post?

No, what I’m trying to convey is that since the conditions of ethinic population is not same then you can’t draw conclusion that the difference in suicide rate is due to ethinicity or culture. It can be economics too or something else.

For example, the distribution of the Asian American population is more in the larger cities while Caucassian Americans are distributed more homogenously all over the landscape.

Suicide rate might be linked to the place of living too.

I personally think it is almost all economics.

OK, let’s shut down this inane thread. I have made a decision not to aggravate the posters any more. This thread was really stupid anyway. I couldn’t believe people kept responding.

Can someone please lock it please?

IP: Couple of things:

No topic is stupid, comments can be but topics are not certainly not a topic like
** Our responsibilities as parent **

If you think your comments aggravate other posters than there is problem with those who looses their temper and not the one who make the comments. I think being a human first thing one need is control on the temper.

Discussion is what makes human a human otherwise what’s the difference between a human and an animal. So locking is not the way to end discussion.

We can agree to disagree and still live in peace on this earth.

Actually I was wasting too much time on this board. I need to get out. That’s why I suddenly had a change in heart.

Lookoing for a show of hands. Anyone bellieving this?
That said – totally agree-- hope this thread will get locked up tight, like all the others.
