Huh!? I have no idea how you came up with the above.

The NIH study finds that family cohesion is one of the primary factors that prevent suicides among Asians. That will go with more assimilation.

Based on real statistics from Florida…but the conclusion is a STRETCH that is very similar to the causal one you are making re: assimilation and the suicide rate.

Look…I’m not going to argue with you, IP…which is CLEARLY all you want to do. This string of posts is not moving anything helpful forward. It’s a back and forth with no ending. Quite frankly it’s not a worthwhile use of my time.

If no one else responds maybe you can get your post count on this thread up to 300.

Glad to know IP; it’s a rare occurence. If you happen to be in Bay area then catch a good steak @ LB Steak in Santana Row.

It’s not a rare occurrence at all. There are a whole bunch of Indians like me. I am rarely in the Bay area but will keep the recommendation in mind. Thanks.

Re: Post #319. Good heavens, IP! Were you high and or hungover during any sociology/psych course you may have taken as well?

LOL woody! Apparently during the Dale Carnegie and Toastmsters classes too :)

I don’t remember taking any such classes but as you know memory becomes weak when you are under the influence. So I might have taken such classes. I clearly learned a lot.

Trolling for arguments…totally a waste of time.

LOL. ■■■■■■■■ with bigger bait. Do you use a rod and reel or a net?

Wow. Mighty impressive. Looks like a record!

Well, well, well. The “dude,” as he once referred to himself, may indeed be a “dooode.”

Anyone remember the old original Star Trek episode where the creature thrived on conflict and negativism? In the end, the only recourse the Trek team had was to smile, laugh together, project satisfaction and send positive vibes- and whatever else- maybe a few backslaps or hugs or high-fives? And, the creature freaked, melted or imploded or fizzled. Should we give up the argument-fueling attempts to convince OP?

“Have a great day, OP!” she said with a smile.

You are not going to get off that easily LF. You have to cheerlead for the Asian parenting style as well.

I was planning to taking my son to it this weekend. Is it really that bad?

Its pretty damn bad…

I’m getting older. I actually had to google that.

Good find, Slithey, and spot on, lookingforward. Only episode I can remember is “Trouble with Tribbles” Made me afraid to wear my pink fuzzy slippers for eons.

“if one group becomes more like another group socioculturally, and the second group has a higher suicide rate, I have trouble believing that the suicide rate of the first group will remain unchanged.”

ever heard of the scientific principle that correlation does not imply causation?
Cause you are implying just that… sans any scientific proof what so ever.

I don’t remember any pink tribbles.

OK, fine, just list out the reason why teen suicide rate is much higher for Caucasians, and then I will show you one by one how changing sociocultural mores for Asians as they assimilate will foster those reasons.

By the way, why is no one interested in discussing the high teen suicide rates for Caucasians? No one cares but me? Wow!

Slithey-
Dorm tv was not in color, IIRC :(

And your link… in #337… AAAAGGGHHHH!!!
