Out of Stater Question

Is Cal Poly a UC or a private school?

How many undergrads?

Athletics D 1?

I found the web site a bit confusing and didn’t find the answers to some of my questions.

Thanks.

Wikipedia is your friend.

It is Division I, public but its a California State University, not part of the UC system

No kidding! I never thought to look there. Thanks a lot for the recommendation.

I know UC’s are very hard for out of state students to get into. Does the same hold true for a California State University?

Thanks a lot SomeGuy1215. I appreciate your help.

Cal Poly is more competitive than many UCs. I don’t know the percent of slots it reserves for OOS kids but you could try looking at the CSU web page for those answers. [The California State University](http://www.calstate.edu/)

people in CA usually put Cal Poly as the #1 state school and it is basically considered an upper UC school

^It really depends what on you’re majoring in and what would be an ideal education for you. If you’re into physics/architecture and you want small class sizes + “learn as you do” environment, then cal poly is for you.
