Well I guess you just got into UVa if you’re asking that question. When you go for orientation, there are spots reserved in a lot of classes just for first years. Also, don’t get too concerned with taking like econ 301/302 - its mostly 2nd and 3rd years. Besides, the school graduates something like 400 econ majors a year, everyone who wants in those classes gets in.

The thing is that jaek99 is a spring transfer student. I’m an econ major, the way it works now is that there is an electronic waitlist for econ as well as a few of the other extremely popular majors (http://web.virginia.edu/ArtsSci/waitlist/student_login.asp) All econ professors now do overrides through this system. Some go simply in list order (ie first on the list first off the list) others do it according to year. If you need a class for graduation professors are usually helpful. Obviously there are some classes that you won’t be able to get into, mostly 400 level classes like Elzinga’s Antitrust or Holt’s Experimental. Next semester will probably be the most difficult for you to get classes, but I think you’ll find that wherever you transfer to. If you have any more econ specific questions about UVa feel free to post them. And congrats on your appeal.

I checked the course offerings schedule on the school website and found that many classes i need are near capacity, such as Stat 212 and Econ 301.

I’m not technically an econ major yet - i have to complete the STAT requirement before formally declaring the major.

How challenging to you find the econ classes? How difficult is it to get an A?
