Oxford College of Emory, or Oxford University? At Oxford University, GPA (among other things) do matter, but it’s not the single most important thing. You’re a member of one of the 38 colleges of the University. These are far more than just glorified halls of residence (opposed to the residential colleges of Yale, Princeton, Rice, or the houses of Harvard, all based on the Oxford-Cambridge college model), but charitable institutions on their own right, with own endowments, possessions, and the right to admit their students (at an undergrad level). A college is a smaller, close kit community within the University - Oxford’s student body is approx. 20.000 while a college have around 500 students. The sense of community is a waaay stronger than at most universities.

As regards Oxford College of Emory, I think there’s a great community not least because you’re in the middle of nowhere (well, not nowhere, but Oxford is some 40 miles from downtown Atlanta, so it’s not even in the suburbs). At least that was my impression when visited… (Be as it may, I’m under the impression you’re interested in OU, not Emory.)
