Well that make sit about 1:100 compared to the number of US citizens killed by illegals in gangs like MS13.

Wanna bet, barrons?

Give me 5 minutes with those 3 teens.

Anytime. Can we count car crashes with drunk illegals too?

barrons:

Not really sure why that even matters man. Do you think it should be a 1:1 ratio? Are you saying that every time an illegal immigrant kills a citizen another completely innocent–in regards to morality not necessarily to the law–illegal immigrant ought to be killed?

Also, I think that what makes those “car crashes with drunk illegals” different from this savage beating is that one is a result of poor judgment while the other is a result of pure hatred in the form of racism, xenophobia, etc.

This is a nation of laws. The very same laws that made the victim an illegal immigrant should be utilized to their full extent against the accused; and if found guilty, the maximum penalty should be invoked.

[Teens charged in beating that killed Mexican national in Shenandoah - Reading Eagle Newspaper](http://www.readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=100291)

Here is the local paper’s story.

Laxmom - was just going to post that article - I just got done reading it while eating my breakfast.

It appears these three teenagers were drunk (or had been drinking) and decided to pick a fight with this man who was walking home. The victim, by the way, worked two jobs and was the father of two young small children. He has been in this country for 6 years. He was not beated because he was illegal, although that shouldn’t matter and there is no evidence there are any gangs involved.
Any “excuses” that barrons thinks should apply here, do not apply.

Now - I have lived in the “general” area for 20 years. What I have seen is a prejudice that exists against Latinos that reminds me of the widespread prejudice that existed against black americans a generation ago. I can’t understand for the life of me that people who consider themselves non-prejudicial, who abhor the “N” word and others used in reference to Black Americans, who will tell you with a straight face that all people are created equal - would think nothing of uttering racial epithets at Latinos. It doesn’t matter if they are illegal or not (since you can’t tell by looking at someone) or if they have a job or if they own a home etc.
The racial stereotypes are appalling and for some reason “socially acceptable”.

Was this a “hate crime” - I have no idea but it does look at least like these kids were out drinking and looking for a fight.

I did not offer any excuses. It’s just a fact that such crimes are rare and crimes of illegals are not. That is all I said. It made such a big splash because it is rare. In areas infested with various Mexican and other Hispanic gangs killings are so common they don’t make the news.

barrons - you are a little bit wrong here.

The reason this made big news is that Shenandoah is a small town in Coal Country. The teens involved were all “good” kids, athletes and honor students. Up in Schuylkill County homicide is rare.

I live in an area “infested” with Mexicans, Dominicans, Haitians, and Puerto Ricans. We also have a lot of immigrants from Romania and Southeast Asia.
Yes there is a gang presence mostly because of the proximity to NYC and Philadelphia - every murder is big news - regardless of who commits it.
In fact, there are plenty of homicides in this area committed by white natural born citizens. Being an immigrant does not a criminal make.

I am not sure but I think your prejudice is showing through a little bit here. JMHO.

The areas that have really large numbers of MS 13 and the like are far from NYC. You have no idea what it’s like in parts of SoCal and the rest of the southwest.

The teenagers shouldn’t be charged with ethnic intimidation. Any of these hate crime laws are stupid. If I go drunk and randomly kill a white person walking down the street, I doubt I would be charged with ethnic intimidation.

barrons, I live in Texas and don’t know of any widespread gang killings. And it looks like you don’t live in the SW so I’m wondering from where your numbers come.

You can start here.

[3 MS-13 gang members charged in Harris County death[Texas]](<a href=“404 Not Found”>3 MS-13 gang members charged in Harris County death[Texas])

Then type MS13 and Texas into Google. You’ll find plenty. That is only one gang.

Here’s the relevancy of gangs, to the wider community:

(Two ‘for examples’)

1 - in L.A., several years ago. Grandparents took wrong turn, (got lost), realized it, attempted to reverse tracks by driving into a driveway. Had infant in carseat in car. Automatic rifles were turned on the unwitting, innocent family; baby was slaughtered. People in house claim that (and without actually LOOKING as to who was in the bleepin’ car, which included an elderly non-minority couple with baby), they thought it was ‘a rival gang.’ I have no info as to whether the gang inside the house were legal or illegal residents, but they were definitely a gang driven by blind violence.

2 - in S.F., recently. I linked the article in the most recent page of the thread in the Cafe entitled “San Fran and Illegals.” Similar innocent family – this time hard-working Dad & 2 wholesome sons, returning from a Sunday trip. On way to wife at home, drove through a neighborhood. (Were not lost.) The lovely Mr. Ramos (read the article – product of notorious ‘sanctuary’ policy) shot into the car at an intersection. It’s been theorized that Mr. Ramos might have been ‘upset’ that the car temporarily blocked his turn. However, since the car with the 3 occupants backed up, it’s more likely like this was a ‘gang’ score (random), OR, that, since some Italian-Americans can look like Latin Americans, it was (as with the driveway situation) mistaken identity. Three needless deaths & several inconsolable family members resulted from that incident.

Mostly, gangs just kill each other. But definitely not always.

Judging from some of the comments made by our respected parents here on immigrants, why would it be so surprising that we have such acts being committed by some inebriated teenagers.

The sad truth is that as a non-Caucasian in my country, I am never free from this form of harassment. The killers of Vincent Chin was convicted and fined less than two thousand dollars each, and I would be surprised if a conviction would carry a much tougher sentencing in this case.

Barrons, how is this even relevant? Are you saying that these teens are somehow excused for beating a man to death because some other illegal immigrants have killed US citizens? Does that make it somehow less horrifying that supposedly “good” kids of only 16 and 17 could carry out such a brutal, senseless murder?

Elsewhere, there have been cases of white teens attacking homeless people. Do you have some stats on murders by homeless people to justify those crimes, too? And perhaps some stats on the psychological impact of bullying to excuse all the school shooters?

I merely pointed out another fact. You are making the conclusions. I never said it justified anything. It’s just another fact.

This is messed up, sometimes I wonder where our world is heading… I mean, it never used to be this bad, crimes are always getting worse, more innocents hurt, and many criminals are going unpunished. It is truly upsetting. Btw, i dont care about the facts barrons, a death is a death, it is sad and something we all should learn from; it is completely inconsequential whether the person who died is an illegal/legal or foriegn or natural born. Just because people of one race have committed a high number of crimes does not mean that a crime against such people can be justified. It also truly agitates me how you said “infested” in an earlier post.
