“Well that make sit about 1:100 compared to the number of US citizens killed by illegals in gangs like MS13.”

where is that statistic from? the suspense is killing me! And what does it mean exactly?

that for every illegal immigrant killed by an American citizen, that 100 citizens are killed by illegal immigrants?

Please explain those numbers, and where they are from. Call me dense, but I am clueless to their meaning as I have no point of reference as to what they represent, and where they are from.

Are we talking murders, murderers, whatever…

Racial harassment in this country is not reserved for non-Caucasians and non-African Americans. Ask anyone who grew up in Hawaii about “Kill Haole Day.” It even has its own wikipedia entry: [Kill Haole Day - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Kill Haole Day - Wikipedia)

folks, k&s is inappopriately using this thread to discuss an argument that he lost long ago. He needs to take it elsewhere. It’s hijacking --not to mention, of course, out of bounds & fictional in its claims. Others, incluidng him, who wnat to investigate this different matter than this thread, are free to do so outside of this thread. Further, his attacks are ad hominem & I’ll have no hesitation to notify the mods if he keeps it up. He’s out of line.

I agree, padad, that the incident reported was not gang motivated.

I don’t think that would matter–I’m non-white myself. Actually a US citizen Hispanic. I am going to Hawaii for a week over Christmas. Big Island. I’ll say hello.

i still want to see the studies that Barron is quoting from. Those numbers that started this whole debate- what do they mean? Where are they from?

I love statistics and how they are acheived, so would love to see the study Barron’s refers to.

As a budding law student, with an interest in Criminal and Immigration Law, that study could be really interesting.

Update:
There was a vigil held in Shenandoah, PA. It was a “Call for Peace” held at the local Catholic church.
The mayor has apologized for his statement claiming the homicide was NOT a hate crime.
MALDEF, aided by other minority support groups staged the press conference and vigil. They have asked the FBI to become involved to monitor the investigation.
3 white teenage boys (ages 17,17,18) have been charged with homicide and ethnic intimidation. A fourth 17 year old was present but has not been charged.

The FBI and the Justice department’s Civil Rights division have agreed to join local authorities in prosecuting this case.

Two teenagers remain in jail without bail and one was released after posting $75,000 bail.

It remains to be seen whether or not the parents of these boys have the resources to retain the high priced Philadelphia lawyer that may be needed and/or how the jury will act/react.

I’ve been thinking about this in terms of the perpetrators. I really wonder if I could make the sacrifices necessary to ensure excellent representation for one of my kids if I believed he/she had committed a heinous crime. I guess it would depend on the circumstances, but if I believed my kid had taken a life without serious justification, I don’t know what I would do.

Additionally - the Shenandoah police chief and two police officers - one being the boyfriend of the mother of a defendant -face federal obstruction of justice charges.
