No idea what the previous owners did to my front door, but it’s awful. So, what color should I paint it?
The house is white siding w/ a very little bit of orange-y brick. The door hardware and light fixtures are black. The shutters are a faded dark green, but I would be willing to repaint those as well. The landscapers will be planting several red, and light pink azaleas; a few coral-y roses, some bright yellow ligustrum, and a boat-load of TBD annuals.
With such bright colors, I was thinking about going w/ black but I’m not sure how that would look w/ black hardware. Opinions?
Red was suggested by the paint guy at Home Depot. I’m not sure how it would look w/ all the super bright new plants. Do you think it would work? Also, what color would you do the shutters?
I was looking at dark gray as well. I’d have to repaint the door hardware (all the pics I’ve seen have had a silver finish w/ gray doors). I’m willing to do that though, if I have to.
I used to drive by a house all the time that had sort of orange brick and white paint. The shutters were painted what I would call a bright navy. Never noticed the front door, but the blue on white really looked crisp and clean.
There is also a house with a mustard colored door that is really (surprisingly) pretty.
Park bench green which is a very dark green that looks almost black on the door and shutters. It looks great with the white siding and with the bright flowers.
Like that Washington Blue!! I wish I had more doors to paint… oh wait!!! We have a junk door on the garage!!! Yay. Mister will be p’d off that I have another paint project!
LMAO @BunsenBurner !! After the door I’m hoping DH will help me tackle the tile around the fireplace. I’ve seen videos where they paint over the tile then use a stencil for making a pattern. It turned out gorgeous in the video & didn’t look difficult at all.
I love Benjamin Moore Forest Green for exterior shutters and trim. We have done it in 2 homes, once with Heritage Red door. But you should pick a red that complements your brick color.
