Painting a room with college colors

aargh decisions decisions. I’m now leaning towards just doing a couple of stripes.

I think my kids’ rooms are 7x9. They’re not huge, but they’re private. And they have a door. I didn’t have my own room until I was an adult, so I know from experience that small is better than none.

I think this is a cute idea. I’d try to do it subtly though. I’d paint the walls yellow to brighten the space and add blue accents (bedding, accessories), but I’d keep the ceiling and trim white. But you’re not me. I think you have to do what you like. You can always repaint it.

Mine would have not been happy at all. Especially the one that transferred lol.

While I would have asked my child at the beginning of this thought, how about asking them now - full coverage or stripes? I can’t imagine not getting their input. (or maybe use the paint in YOUR bedroom!!!)

Most of the HD brochure showed the school logo on the wall. Can you get a stencil? Blue logo on the gold wall would look good. Or what about the window treatment? You could paint the logo on a mini blind.
Or paint the walls gold and then get inexpensive lamps and paint the bases with the blue (or color the nightstand blue).

MODERATOR’S NOTE: The OP has been asked to take a break from CC so he will not be around for a couple of weeks.

Are you prepared to repaint of he transfers a year or two down the road?

6 x 6 is not big enough for a twin size mattress. That’s not a bedroom in my book. Nor in the International building code which says you need at least 70 square feet and a minimum dimension of 7 feet. That said, you can find a lot of weird stuff in old houses. My kids room in our first house was 6’x10’ and we put a bunk bed in it.

Regarding the paint job - sometimes a small room with dark paint can be cozy and charming, while white can look bland and not really enlarge the room any.

I decided to put Cal Blue and Cal Gold stripes (as defined by Glidden) near the top of the wall, all around the room. 1 set of 7” stripes. I also got a 4’ Fathead of the Cal logo. The rest of the walls I painted with a pretty neutral beige. I wish there was a way of posting an image here…it came out pretty nice. As usual, my kid was non-reactionary when I posted the pics…he could win a million dollars and still get no reaction.

Post your room with your avatar.

Ok I changed my avatar (for now) with one side of the wall…

Not bad. Easily remedied before a sale.

Very nice and not overwhelming nor too dark; tasteful.

You’re hired!! Can you do Michigan?

My son is the same way… Like nothing affects these kids.
