Watching Palin trying to form a coherent speech on the spot makes me cringe.

“the world needs more “Trigs”, not fewer.”
– Sarah Palin

@Ivy: LOL that was adorable!

It surprised me that so much of her speech was pure whine and so little of it was peppy and wink-y. It didn’t come off really well.

(sidenote: I’m neither Republican nor Democrat. Economic conservative, social liberal.)

"Palin’s decision not to seek re-election was a familiar one for a potential presidential candidate. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney chose not to seek another term as he geared up for an unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has announced he won’t seek another term, giving him plenty of free time ahead of a potential 2012 bid. "

The thing is, though, Romney and Pawlenty didn’t friggin’ RESIGN from being governor. They’re letting their terms expire, which is normal.

Frankly, I smell a scandal coming on. Otherwise that might have been one of the dumbest political moves…well, since a certain other GOP governor ran off to Argentina.

There were obviously implications hinting the fact that she WILL be running for president in 2012. Unless Obama screws up VERY bad, I don’t see another candidate–either Republican or Democrat–beating him in the election.

Honestly, I don’t think it was a smart political move if she wishes to continue her career in politics :(

it’ll be interesting to see how this turns out. i’m thinking along the lines of the others… i almost hope it was a scandal! although she has good intentions, its sometimes painful to watch her. whether you’re liberal or conservative.

i hope this means more tina fey! she has to come back… how could she stay away from snl forever??

The first time they posted her speech, I was half-heartedly glancing at it and honestly thought it was an unusually grainy SNL skit.

Idk, the whole arccos and arcsin thing made life a lot more complicated.

We’re all surprised and caught off guard by this. Nobody here (Alaska) really knows why she did what she did. Some speculate she’s pre-empting a scandal. Some think she’s sufficiently insane to think this will help her presidential chances. Whichever way you look at it, her Presidential ambitions are done.

This is by no means a reliable source (just a bunch of bloggers blogging) but this may be the scandal . . .
